A. Hi Travis - Sounds like a great little project to be involved with. I am not too sure of which angle you are going to use for your poster but i would like to suggest visiting for some more information. You will be able to find many different hand washing tutorials and images which should be able to give you some real inspiration in creating a work of art. I hope this helps! Good Luck

Anybody have any good decorating ideas for a classroom?
Q. I'm teaching a 4th/5th grade VBS class in a couple weeks and the theme is adventure park. I have some posters but I need some more easy decoration ideas. I only have an hour or 2 to set it up, so nothing too extravagant please! Thanks!
Asked by Carli - Mon Jul 7 23:56:56 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. My aunty once used a couple of wheel barrows of sand on some type of plastic to create a mini beach - plants and other stuff of course, Kids loved it. Some adventure parks have themes. How about a scary touch tunnel - with cornflakes to walk on for crushed bones, peeled grapes as eyeballs of the ones who did not escape, tomato sauce for blood - of course you play it down and make it silly rather than gorey. Idea to make it stand out that horror movies and similar theme rides in parks are just that - sillyness.

Ideas for a tween girls bedroom?
Q. My daughter is 11 years old and is going into the 5th grade. Her bedroom has 3 walls pink and 1 wall purple. It is really babyish and she wants to redo it. I wont paint her walls which is a problem. She can rearrange her furniture and get rid of all her stuff that she doesn't want. She has a white desk, dresser, and twin bed. She is covering her walls with really cool magazine photos and posters to cover up the pink and purple. Do y'all have any thing that might be helpful to us, and if so please tell em or leave me a webpage. Thankyou Also her floor is shaggy purple.

A. What if you keep the pink and purple and then do silver stars along one wall. Maybe a hollywood theme and have your daughters put handprints on the wall like that chinese theatre or walk of fame? Grab some feather boas and buy some old cameras from a flea market and fix them to the wall- also have a fun photo shoot with her friends and frame those on the wall. That'd keep her well into her teen years and those are great little things on a small budget!

Teacher presentation idea? Is this a good idea or not?
Q. I am currently teaching middle school and am planning to teach next year in an elm. school. As part of the interview process I have to do an in class presentation to the potential school for their current students. I am doing it for 5th grade. The teacher told me they were studying planet. I read on here an idea of having students create planet commercials and try to convince people to come to their specific planet. I am thinking of having the kids work in groups and have them create a poster board for their commercial. I will give them facts on the planets and then they will create their own commercials. The principal did not tell me how long the lesson had to be, so I thought this was good. It shows me working with the kids and having… [cont.]

A. While it sounds fun, I'd make sure there's a good deal of substance. You should present how this meets educational science standards and how you'd assess the achievement. What shows a good understanding of a planet? If you just provide the facts on the planets, what are they learning vis a vis how to find information?

I need help with 8th grade student council elections. Please help if you can!?
Q. I am in 8th, running for Treasurer. I have an idea for my speech and posters. But, I want my actual presentation to be exciting. I have to minutes and the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be watching. I can't do anything hugely weird because I am sort of a not so loud person. People don't view me as a LOUD thing. So, do you have ideas or do you think I should just learn to be loud? PS-The elections are in 3 weeks. Thankx!

A. I know how you feel, I ran for President in 9th grade and lost and I know how it feels to be frustrated but let's face it: the kids don't really want to hear your ideas. They don't care. I swear. The whole thing is a popularity contest and whether your speech goes over big with the audience. Just find a catchy slogan, make sure people know you are running and talk to them (that never hurts!) and make a humorous and short, simple speech. Oh, but don't try too hard to make it funny. There was this girl in my election who got like scarred for life by using really stupid, ridiculously corny jokes. So just make a good, to-the-point speech with some laughs that will make people say "hey I want to vote for that person!"

A. If you go onto there are several photos of various homeschool "rooms" you can look at. Some other ideas are to hang things from the ceiling. My kids love that! We have all the things you mentioned above in our classroom. I think the key to keeping it fresh is just rotating the various materials you have and maybe adding some new posters, etc... We do a bulletin board theme each month as well. They love seeing what new things will be up on the board. I do it while they're sleeping, and its kind of a surprise for them!

A. for the signs-- make them as birght and easy to read as possible. and make a variety of different sayings. if theyre bright and easy to read it will attract the younger kids attention. and make sure you post them evenly spaced around the whole school. other stuff-- as school presdient do you have enough power to call fun days? at my elementary school, we always did things like field day where you play games outside all day. or a bike rodeo where everyone competed for the best bike riding skills. or maybe you could plan some fun assemblys. just do whatever you can to provide your school with fun activites goodluck(:
