Math homework help? [7th grade]?
Q. Okay so I need help with math homework - it isn't my strongest subject this year and it's just confusing in so many ways - I do have my parents permission to be on here [just to clarify that before I get answers talking about that]. I have this worksheet with 27 problems and I need help with these [You don't have to give me the answers maybe just explain it to me -that's all I'm asking for basically] #6. A lawn care service charges $10 plus $15 per hour to mow and fertilize lawns. Write an expression for the total cost of having your lawn mowed and fertilized. Then evaluate the expression for 4 hours. #8. f / 10 (f over 10) - 1 = 2 #12. s / 3 (s over 3) + 2 = 4 Define a variable and write an algebraic expression for each phrase: #3. [cont.]

A. This looks like algebra intro stuff. I will help you with two, then try the rest with or without your parents' help. #6 is asking you to write an equation to calculate the cost of a lawn service. Based on the description, it looks like you pay for them just to show up ($10) even if they don't work. I find it easiest to give the variables (the things related to numbers) letters before trying any math. Define "C" as the cost and "t" as the time in hours. Now read and use these letters to define your equation: C=10 + 15t This is saying the cost is $10 plus $15 multiplied by the number of hours worked. Now, plug "4" into t and calculate the cost requested --- for #8, it's asking you to solve for "f" in this equation or to find out… [cont.]

I'm pretty sure my schedule for 9th Grade is going to be hard... What do you think?
Q. School starts on Wednesday, the 3rd.. here's my schedule: 1. Honors English 9 2. Advanced PE (It's just regular PE, =]) 3. Jazz Ensemble (I'm going to play guitar. I heard that there is homework for this class though...) 4. Honors Biology 9 5. Spanish 1 6. Math Analysis (I asked my counselor, it's just like Pre-Calculus). At first, it didn't seem so hard, it actually seemed kinda easy. But then I read the course outlines.. I have 5 hours a week of English homework, daily homework in Math, 5 hours a week of Biology homework, Spanish homework every day, Jazz music-reading to do, and I even read that there are worksheets to do for PE!!! Do you think this will give me some trouble? If it's of any help, I got A's in all my classes in 8th… [cont.]

A. That looks like any easy schedule to me. Some teachers say you'll have a lot of homework, but that will likely change. And an hour a day for one subject isn't that bad. Spanish 1 should be easy, I took it in middle school, so I don't remember that much about it. I'm actually really good in Spanish, so you probably need a second opinion. Math analysis (called the same thing at my school) is a little difficult, but is easier than Algebra 2 and makes some of the things you studied in Alg. 2 make more sense. PE worksheets are a joke. Jazz ensemble should be fun. Some of my friends who are in orchestra say it can be a lot of work around national competition time (staying after school to practice for 3-4 hours), but your teacher might… [cont.]

former/current college students...I need to get organized! HELP?
Q. I do not need any help with organization when it comes to taking my classes and doing well in them. However, I have a habbit of saving old papers/ worksheets/ tests. For some reason, I always have the though in my head "Well what if some day I need to go back to this stuff?" ... I'm cleaning out my bedroom. I am 19 years old and I am still finding math notebooks from when I was in 7th grade. Most of the clutter in my room is from folders of papers from my last year and a half in college. Has anybody ever had to go back to their old stuff? or was it safe to get rid of it? --- I will be keeping most of my books (I'm going for elementary ed..so i will keep my psychology/child psychology..and early childhood books...math/history books… [cont.]
