What does a computer assessment contain for a wireless company & why was I asked to bring my resume?
Q. I just had a phone interview today and then I was asked to come down to take a computer assessment and to bring my resume. Does that mean they will interview me? They initially obtained my resume online when I applied. Also what should I expect in this second interview? Any tips? I should also add that it is for a customer care rep job at a call center. I'm going to the call center for the test. I've done call center work before but it's been awhile since I interviewed and tested about 6 years! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

A. Normally, for a wireless company, they are hiring salesperson, the computer assessment will give you some question to determine if you are a right sales person, for example, are you a team-player? How do you feel comfortable talk to costumer? and do you enjoy sales? The result will come in soon after you finish the exam, the company will let you know if you pass or not, for the interview part, it really depends on the store manager or assistant manager, they will decide which day will be good to interview.

Tax assessment question - is the purchase price of a home evidence of the assessment value?
Q. Our home was assessed for tax purposes at 30K more than we purchased it for - should we fight it? The assessment is based upon home prices from Oct 04-Oct 05. We purchased the home in Aug 05.

A. Depends upon what state you live in. Some states use your purchase price as the assessed valuation for taxes until it is sold next time. Other states have come up with their own valuation for taxes. Generally, all states have a law that says that property should be valued at the fair market value (FMV) for tax assessment purposes. In my area recently with the huge run up in values, the FMV assessments for taxes has been running behind actual 'street values' by up to 50%. Assessment values have historically ran behind street values except in a couple of cases when real estate prices fell in the late 70s and early 80s. Check out some other recent property sales and see if the same pattern appears (higher valuation than sale price). If… [cont.]

A. Strengh assesment is a guide to show you where to begin. The way you figure it out is to test what your one-rep max is. You'll need a spotter for this! Once you figure out how much you can lift just once, (t may take several attempts and make sure you get at least a minute or two before trying again) You can then use that to gauge how much weight you use. In weight training I follow a simple formula: If you want definition-use low weights,15-20 reps, 30 seconds rest, 3-5 sets If you want size-use moderate weight 8-12 reps, 1 minute rest, 3 sets If you want strength (spotter is crucial here)- Use heavy weights, 3-5 rep, 2 minute rest When in doubt, use a spotter..if no one is available dont use the "chokes" on the bar, if the weight is… [cont.]

What is the best way to challenge my property tax assessment?
Q. Now that the market has declined, they have my house assessed at much more than it is worth, so they are charging me too much in local property tax. How do I challenge the assessment?

A. I live in NY (Nassau County) where property taxes are through the roof. There are companies here that specialize in property tax reduction and charge you 1/2 of the reduction amount with a small application fee that the county requires, if they fail then you lost nothing but your application fee. I have also worked in the business of tax reductions as well. my advice is to consult one of these companies, if not consult a real estate attorney that handles these issues. Paying for an appraisal might work but it could cost you and if you lose then you will be out 300-350. With the other companies if you lose you will lose a small application fee ($25). Also, the process takes a year so you will not see a reduction for at least that period.… [cont.]

A. An appraisal is an estimate of fair market value. An assessment is only for taxation purposes and can often vary quite a bit (either intentionally or unintentionally) from the true market value. I wouldn't stress out about it too much! good luck!

Do I have to pass the paraprofessional assessment to substitute teach in Georgia?
Q. I have a 4 year degree, but they only require a minimum of 15 college credit hours. They also say they are looking for a "highly qualified paraprofessional". There is a paraprofessional assessment, but I have not taken this. Is this what they are referring to? Also, is this necessary for me to take or is it just a plus? Are there any teachers or substitutes in the state of Georgia who can answer this question for me? Thanks.

Is it legal for employers to REQUIRE employees submit a health assessment to be eligible for health insurance?
Q. My employer is saying that if we do not complete an on-line health assessment we will no longer be eligible for health insurance benefits. A. Yes, it is legal, but you cannot be charged extra premiums or denied the insurance based upon the assessment. from a FAQ put out by the Dept. of Labor, which helps enforce HIPPA: "Can a plan require an individual to complete a health care questionnaire in order to enroll? Yes, provided that the health information is not used to deny, restrict, or delay eligibility or benefits, or to determine individual premiums." For more info, here is a web site: Or you can call the national or local office of the Employment Benefit Security Administration

Assessments means an EXTRA fee tacked on to your condos usually monthly maintenance fees. The only time a condo usually has an assessment is when there is a large repair or improvement being done on a common area or outside area of the complex. The assessment is needed usually because the condo association does not have enough money in their reserves to pay for the project. The assessment fee may be in effect for months or years and may vary greatly in amount depending on how much money the complex needs to complete the project. I think the term and fee's you are asking about are the monthly maintenance fees. I live in NY my complex had 10 building and about 250 units. I have the smallest unit size. I… [cont.]

Is it necessary to put students into different class or group after assessment?
Q. It is unavoidable to put students into different categories/ groups/ or class after assessment process for various reasons. Is it necessary and useful to do so?
Asked by Daniel - Fri May 1 11:11:53 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. i think it is necessary. It aims to classify the students capabilities, learning behavior, aptitude etc. Depends on the college's policy, different colleges have their own policy. My experience is grouping up a class with 20% of smart students and the others are average or below average. Their aims is very simple, try to improve the learning environment and the students' result. So that the overall grade or the pass rate of the college/faculty can becomes high. On the other hand, some colleges centralized the most outstanding students, aims to raise the faculty/subjects result so that they can get the reputation in that field. Just like some university have good reputation in certain subjects, not the university.

Q. In the lower left column of p 3 of IRS Pub 530 (info for 1st time homeowners, 2007), it says I can deduct the interest I pay on an assessment for the paving of our street. A. My interpretation of that explanation is, it's not actually a deduction on interest that *you* pay to anyone -- rather, it's a deduction of the portion of the assessment you get from the city which is for interest on the repairs, instead of the portion of the assessment which is for the repairs themselves. You can't deduct that portion of the assessment which is for the repairs themselves, because those add to the value of your property. You can only take a deduction on the amount of the assessment that's actually the interest charge, and you can only deduct that if your assessment (tax bill) is broken down clearly. Q. In the lower left column of p 3 of IRS Pub 530 (info for 1st time homeowners, 2007), it says I can deduct the interest I pay on an assessment for the paving of our street. However, it doesn't say what form or other method I use to claim that deduction on my personal federal tax return. Any ideas? Thanks.

So, since you're deducting an amount that's a portion of an assessment (which is basically a local tax bill), my guess is… [cont.]

Is it possible to appeal property tax assessment for previous years?
Q. For my commercial building in Pittsburgh PA assessment has been much higher than neighborhood buildings . Even though I paid much lower market price from a BK auction. Can I get 2007 tax overpayment refunded? How?

A. You will have to check with the assessor. The rules vary by state and locality. Generally, appeals are allowed but there are deadlines in order to dispute assessed values.
