When do babies start making associations?
Q. I was in my living room sweeping the floor the other day. My nine month old baby, stared at the broom for a minute and then crawled into the kitchen to get the dustpan. My question is, is that normal? When do babies usually start making associations like that.

A. Children/Babies understand a lot more than you think they do. I believe your baby knows exactly what she/he was doing. Especially if the baby has seen you do the floors before. Never underestimate a child's brain! =)

Are there any associations one can join that would then give you access to group health insurance?
Q. From my research so far, it appears that if you have a group health care coverage, it tends to be cheaper than if you have to buy the insurance yourself. For example, a family of 4 may pay as much as $700 a month or more for some decent coverage, but perhaps group coverage from your employer may cost you $400 or so. But if your employer does not offer it, are there any associations that offer health insurance to their members? Associations that anyone can join?

How can a government with party associations ever effectively represent the people it's designed to serve?
Q. Truly, whether 2 parties or 10, how can a goverment work effectively for it's people when elected officials vote with their party? My question is why should parties or any such associations among elected officials not be abolished? Thinking more on this, when I go to the voting booth, I vote in private. There was a big Union issue which surfaced last week about secret voting. There's no peer pressure.

A. Many other types of government can be found, all over the world. With which would you suggest we replace our Republic? Or, do you even have an idea for a new and different one? This is a very good question, and it's very easy to agree with abolishing parties, but many alternatives I could suggest would be even worse. Obviously, the party-in-power is there because it represents the majority. I'd like to see more "watch-dogs", more regulations for the untrustworthy, more emphasis on Civics in school, and more mature decisions than the ones that created this economic crisis. Hopefully, this President will right many wrongs!

Are there any outdoor recreations associations in Singapore?
Q. I like outdoor recreations(like hiking, trekking, etc.) but it seems like Singapore has none of those associations and it's also hard to find just even a group. So, is there any outdoor recreations associations in Singapore?

A. There are a group of people who are called the Hash House Harriers and they go for runs around places like McRitchie etc. Check the website link below. Their website does however say that they're men only which is strange because I knew a woman who was a member a while ago (perhaps they've changed the rules), but you could contact them and ask if there are other groups which allow women. How about dragon boats? They're always looking for rowers. There's also the SingaporeExpats website which is a discussion forum and if you wanted to find like-minded people, you could post your info on there and see if anyone else is interested in joining you. Even if you are not an expat, they don't mind.

How concerned should America be over Obama's shady character associations?
Q. Does Obama make you feel uneasy with his past associations of shady characters? What else is he hiding? Should we be worried?

A. His bad buddy choices are a big concern to me. When a person applies for the most important job I can think of, then we, the voters should scrutinize every breath the person took since high school. This election was tough, because we didn't have the media fairly helping us out with the issues. The media has so much more access to the facts than we do, and the sure didn't do their job this time. Obama could have been easily dethrowned by the press over his friends, let alone the other issues.

Should homeowners in associations band together to lobby the legislature to protect us from sick HOA boards?
Q. HOA and Condo lawyers have formed their own lobbying group, the Community Associations Institute, to stop any laws that protect homeowners from the crazy conduct of sick HOA boards. HOAs do not protect our property values, in fact they can take our home for fees or fines they can invent.
Asked by MikeR - Sun May 10 18:50:20 2009 - - 3 Answers - 2 Comments
A. While I agree that there are problems with some HOA Boards, the bigger problem, in my opinion, is owners who buy without any idea of what an HOA is, or what their rights are. When you buy a home in a covenant controlled community, your ownership rights are limited. Those limits are clearly defined in the legal documents that many or most people don't bother to read. Living in a covenant controlled community is a trade-off. You give up some of your rights as an individual to do whatever you want with your property, and in return, you gain some measure of control or predictability over what your neighbors can do. If you are the sort of fiercely independent person who does not want to submit an application form before you change paint… [cont.]

Asked by K_Z b - Sun Dec 2 06:54:59 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No it is not wrong. Most insurance professionals would want to have their contact information readily available to the general public. There are many reasons to join an insurance association one of them being that you gain some professional credibility by being a member. No reason to keep your membership in the association a secret.

This organization makes sure all laboratory professionals are certified by very strict guidlines and offer continuing education seminars and other matherial. There also is the ASCLS (american society for clinical laboratory science) This organizations purpose is to create awareness in the community for laboratory professionals and to allow us to share our knowledge and experiences with each other. This organization also leads the fight towards laboratory licensure, and fights for more pay and recognition in the healthcare setting.
