Behavior or behaviour (see spelling differences) refers to the actions or reactions of an object or organism, usually in relation to the environment. Behavior can be conscious or subconscious, overt or covert, and voluntary or involuntary.

In animals

In animals, behavior is controlled by the endocrine system and the nervous system. The complexity of the behavior of an organism is related to the complexity of its nervous system. Generally, organisms with complex nervous systems have a greater capacity to learn new responses and thus adjust their behavior. Behaviors can be either innate or learned.

How important is professional behavior to your dance school?
Q. In other words, does your school take classroom etiquette and professional behavior very seriously at your dance school? Or is your dance school rather relaxed?
Asked by Pointee (the aptly named dancer) - Thu Jun 5 11:13:19 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. My ballet studio was pretty formal. Once we were in class and class had started we weren't allowed to talk. Hair in bun, leo, tights and shoes. There were no toilet or drink breaks, had to go before class and bring drink bottle with you. But saying that it was a fun atmosphere. We all new each other well but when we were in class we were there to dance. Socialising was for down stairs in the dressing room. We all took our dance pretty seriously. That was our ballet class tap or jazz was more relaxed on the talking and laughing thing! My ballet school was one of the best schools in Adelaide.

Is it ok to use a behavior chart with children of relatives whom I babysit once per week?
Q. I'd like to find something in order to make my day easier when looking after the children, and I think a behavior chart might be helpful. Is this ok to use one as a babysitter, or is it stepping too much into the parents' boundaries? I currently try the "having fun" approach. However, I have a six month old, so it isn't always possible to entertain 3 children under the age of 7 for an entire day. Plus, things in my house are getting broken, and I'm being disrespected, despite trying to just "have fun."

A. Of course! You're in charge; you make the rules. A behavior chart is a great first step. As a teacher, I have learned that the keys to effective discipline are clear expectations, consistency, and follow-through. I suggest that you inform parents of what you're doing and why you're doing it. Good luck!

How would you know if a behavior is learned?
Q. Are all behaviors learned? How would you know if a behavior is learned? Can you please give me an example, or even disprove that all behaviors are learned.
Asked by miss - Fri Aug 21 21:10:15 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There's a debate about this. It's called Nature vs. Nurture. Nature means that behavior comes from genetics. For example: we automatically know how to move our mouths and eat. No one taught us how to eat. . Nurture means that behavior is learned from our mother and father. Behavior is learned from the environment that he/she grew up in. It can be from experience. For example: Your mother teaching you that it's wrong to steal. You get a punishment. You learned not to steal anything next time because you will get a punishment.
