A. Get a periodic table...cross charges, (and watch out for your polyatomics...acetate, ammonium, ect.), and yeah...It's not that hard lol. Heres the first one NaC2H3O2 Sodium (Na) has a charge of +1, Acetate (C2H3O2) has a charge of -1, so the charges cancel. Chemistry is fun :) Good luck

A. Aluminum (Al) has a charge of +3 Hydroxide (OH) has a charge of -1 Phosphate (PO4) has a charge of -3 Charges must match when bonding. Because Al and PO4 both have a charge of 3, neither has to be multiplied Al has a charge of +3 and hydroxide has a charge of -1 If you multiply hydroxide by 3, it now has a charge of -3 which can then be bonded with Aluminum with its charge of +3

A. Common name? Those are pretty much it. Carbonic acid happens to be carbon dioxide dissolved in water, but I don't think that counts. The chemical name for fool's gold is iron disulfide, FeS2. The chemical name for bleach is sodium hypochlorite, NaOCl. The chemical name for aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid, like you said, formula C9H8O4 or structurally C6H4(OCOCH3)COOH. Methanol, CH3OH, or wood alcohol or methyl alcohol, is used as an antifreeze, solvent, or fuel. Milk of magnesia (not magnesium) is a laxative used to treat constipation and can also be used to relieve heartburn and indigestion. I know you've seen the commercials for this stuff. Carbonic acid is, again, carbon dioxide in water, which is basically soda.

how do i do this? On chemisty compounds.?
Q. okay this isnt homework its a test that was already corrected i want to make sure he marked them right , if you want i can send you a scanned version if you dojnt believe me : ) Write the chemical formula for each compound. and if its ionic or covalent a) aluminum Chloride b) Magnesium chloride Write the formula's for these compounds containing Polyatomic Ions. a) silver nitrate b) zinc hydroxide c) iron (II) nitrate d) Lithium hydroxide e) Hydrogen Phosphate Write the Chemical formual and if they are ionic or covalent a) Beryllium flouride b) sodium nitride c) Diphosphorus pentaoxide d) Aluminum Chloride e) lithium oxide f) Potassium Nitride g) calcium flouride could you explain one of each so i can learn how to do it… [cont.]

A. a) aluminum Chloride = AlCl3 (covalent) b) Magnesium chloride= MgCl2 (ionic) Write the formula's for these compounds containing Polyatomic Ions. a) silver nitrate = AgNO3 b) zinc hydroxide=Zn(OH)2 c) iron (II) nitrate = Fe(NO3)2 d) Lithium hydroxide= LiOH e) Hydrogen Phosphate= H3PO4 Write the Chemical formual and if they are ionic or covalent a) Beryllium flouride= BeF2 b) sodium nitride= Na3N c) Diphosphorus pentaoxide= P2O5 (di means two and penta means 5) d) Aluminum Chloride= AlCl3 e) lithium oxide= Li2O f) Potassium Nitride=K3N g) calcium flouride= CaF2 the way to do these problems is to find the charge of each ion that make up the compound and do the crisscross process (meaning e.g. potassium nitride --> potassium… [cont.]
