How can I update my listing at web directories?
Q. I have sent my web page to a couple of web directories. Now I need to update the title and description of my web page, but I cannot find a way to do it on these web directories. Is there anyone having an idea? The web directories that I submited to are not Yahoo or Google directories, but those small, not that famous ones which exist thousands online.
Asked by Yvette - Thu Dec 18 00:38:37 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Sorry but you can't update the website information anymore once it was submitted. Only a few directories can update your information if you resubmit your site.

How to write a PHP coding to list out all files and directories as links to them?
Q. How to write a PHP coding to list out all files and directories as links to them? This is somewhat similar to some index pages. When new file or folder is added to the directory, HTML page should display the newly created file/folder together with previous ones after it is being refreshed. (prefer in alphabatical order) How to achieve this sort of functionality in PHP? Please provide sample coding as well. (and any references) Thanks.

A. // get array of all files and directories in the current directory (it is sorted alphabetically by default) $dir_entries = scandir(dirname(__FILE__) ); // for PHP 5.3+, use __DIR__ instead of dirname(__FILE__) // split the array of files and directories into two arrays, one containing files and the other directories $dir_files = array(); $dir_directories = array(); foreach($dir_entries as $dir_entry) { if(is_dir($dir_entry)) { array_push($dir_directori es, $dir_entry); } else { array_push($dir_files, $dir_entry); } } // print directories foreach($dir_directories as $dir_directory) { // don't print current and parent directories if($dir_directory == '.' or $dir_directory == '..') { continue; } echo "[cont.]

Is it legal for a hotel to modify Yellow Pages directories available to their guests?
Q. Is it legal for the management of a hotel to remove an entire section of advertising from each and every Yellow Pages directory placed in their guest rooms simply because the management of the hotel does not like the (totally legal) service being advertiseed? In this case, it's the Escort Services ads that they've removed, but it might just as well be tattoo parlours, abortion services, divorce lawyers, gun dealers, mosques -- can the management of a hotel that accepts and makes available Yellow Pages directories modify them before making them available to their guests? And if so, do they have an obligation to inform their guests of this prior to or at the time of booking?
Asked by joyfulc1957 - Sun Nov 4 09:57:05 2007 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Yes it is legal. The hotel management could just not put the directory in the room, if they so choose.

How do I change my business contact information for the online business directories?
Q. My business is currently listed under my home address and personal cell phone. I would like to change the address to a p.o. box or outside office and different phone number for safety reasons, so when my business pops up under San Diego directories online it is not my personal information. Do I have to go through my business license and officially change it there or is there a way to update information for standard business directories.

A. I'm actually going through the same problem right now, the course of action i'm takeing to fix the situation is to contact the BBB and DNB. They are slow to do anything but they are the primary sources you will need to have update this information. It's always wonderful when you start a brand new business and you start conducting business then you see a customer of yours has supplied your personal information to these companies. Then the BBB wants you to pay 300.00 dollars and so does DNB to even change or attempt to change your info untill recently. Hope this helps.

A. Directories are like Yellow pages they are organized and have websites listed by services. They are excellent references to your website. You have to choose best by checking the hit to these directories.

Is there a way of finding the highest google page ranked legal directories?
Q. I want to put my process serving website in some more legal directories, however I want to put my money where it is most useful. In order to add rank to my own website I would only like to place my link on pages that have at least a 7 google page rank. Is there an easy way of doing this?
Asked by Lowell Mass - Wed May 6 12:19:34 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There are lots of ways to add page rank to your website through the placing of backlinks. Everyone puts backlinks on the usual sites, like blogs, forums, social bookmarking...etc And we all should do this anyway. The key is te quality of the backlinks. And as you have mentioned, at least a PR7 rank in google. Well I have found the perfect answer to what you are looking for. There is a way, and you said easy way, so what is easier than having someone else so the work for you. Not just sloppy work, or the usual page rank stuff. We are talking about PR6 all the way to PR10. That is what I do and most SEO marketers do. Check it out below.

A. If the directory provides information like addresses, email lists, contact persons and company information on C-level, VP, Director and Manager etc, like how Jigsaw does, then it can be considered the best. Yes, most online directories do not store adequate information; but Jigsaw s company information is user created and hence authentic and reliable too.
