Q. I want to try getting into doing fractal art, what are some softwares I could use for this?

A. Check here... and here... There's some overlapping in these two lists, but take that to mean that those programs are more popular. You don't really need to know the mathematics at work behind the imagery, though it would help a lot if you were looking to generate certain patterns. Definitely check out the rest of FractalFoundation.Org for more information.

A. I'm not familiar with "text fractal"... but generally fractals are derived from algorithms that have an interesting property... as you push numbers in that are increasingly closer together, you still see a distinction in the output of the algorithm... often times they repeat themselves at smaller scales. For example... If I look at the output from numbers 1 through 10, I see a contrast (which is generally color coded)... then if I "zoom in" and look at 9.5 to 9.51 in ten steps, I still see an interesting contrast. A. nope, kinda trippy, definitely not fractal if you drew it yourself. fractal art is generated by plotting the feedback results of a fractal equation at some point in it's evolution (you can never plot the final result since a fractal is a continuously iterating "curve" with a recursion based feedback loop). Fractals are in fact a relatively complex field of modern geometry and are used in several fields, one prominent application is in telecom, that cell-phone in your pocket probably has a fractal-based antenna in it. If you want to see some true fractal art do a google image search for "Mandelbrot set" it's one of the most common (and coolest) fractal curves.

What is fractal art?
Q. What is fractal art?
Asked by Female O - Sat Jul 21 17:16:50 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Let's start off with "Fractal." Fractals are geometric shapes that copy themselves on smaller and smaller scales till they become invisible. Technically fractals are called "infinite coastlines," which means they keep on getting smaller and smaller into infinity and never (theoretically) come around full circle. So "fractal art" would be computer generated art that is based on those kinds of geometric shapes. Google "fractal" and you'll get some good pictures.

Q. My friend showed me pictures of fractal yesterday and said that it is all mathematical - I don't get it!!! Where are the numbers coming from, how do maths create art and design? A. Fractals arise in both nature and mathematics, but most likely the pictures you were looking at were generated by humans. Basically you take a function, almost any function will work even something very simple, and you repeatedly plug in values. Let's look at an example where the function is f(x) = 2x. Start with x=1. Plug that in to get f(1) = 2. Now plug x=2 in to get f(2) = 4. Plug x=4 in to get f(4) = 8. Keep going and going and going. What you have done it to trace where the function sends the point x=1. In the example above f sends the point 1 to 2, then 4, and then 8. Not very interesting so far. But what if I didn't just see where the function sent x=1, I also looked at where the function sent x=2 and x=-12 and x=12 [cont.]

what is a fractal of nature?
Q. can someone clearly explained to me what a fractal is, and also if possible How it has inspired science and art?
Asked by Jake C - Wed May 27 18:02:59 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A fractal is an object that looks similar in shape on a range of scales. This property is often called self-similarity. The easiest one-dimensional fractal is probably the Cantor set. It is built by dividing a line segment with value 1 into 3 segments of equal length, and giving the middle segment value 0. This process is then repeated on the remaining segments with value 1, and so on. The pattern of the distribution of 1s is self-similar. If you integrate the Cantor set, the result is called the Devil's Staircase, whose increments are self-similar. It has inspired science (and I guess art as well) because many natural and natural-looking phenomena have self-similar properties. One of the most famous is the coastline of Britain, as… [cont.]

Digital art media?
Q. Other than photoshop, Corel painter, ultra fractal, painter 7... what are any other software specially for painting/drawing. I'm trying to explore other software to enhance my art.
Asked by pheobe - Thu May 24 11:52:16 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. (I think the people above have no clue: Autocad is for technical design and Flash is for web animation. None of them is specifically designed for painting or drawing). I've heard some good reviews about ArtRage. Some say it beats Painter in some areas. By the way, Painter 7 and Corel Painter is the same software. Painter was bought from Fractal by Corel before the release of version 7, but was marketed as owned by a company named ProCreate. The latest version is number X. In my opinion, it is one heckuva good painting software. Regarding artistic painting, beats Photoshop completely. If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and buy a graphic tablet. Painting without one is like drawing with bricks.

Logic critical thinking please help?
Q. some one help me out please? we have to read this manifesto and then break it down in to syllogisms if you know logic you know this like (premises and conclusions) Analyzed statement or manifesto to show its logical arguments, structures, and fallacies using clear logic, argumentation, and critical thinking. As a genre, Fractal Art (FA) has been around for approximately 15-20 years. Its first major public display may be considered to be an article about the Mandelbrot Set published in "Scientific American" in 1985. Since then, many advances have been made, both in fractal rendering capabilities and in the understanding of fractal geometery. Perhaps now is an opportune time to make a defining statement about what is (and what is not)… [cont.]
Asked by Zagus - Mon Sep 21 19:41:49 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Hi I'm afraid that I don't quite understand what you need to do, but I guess that it's along these lines. A syllogism is an argument from two premises to a conclusion. For example, (1) All Fs are Gs (2) Some F is an H Thus, (3) Some G is an H. A syllogism is valid just in case it is logically impossible that its premises should be true in the event that its conclusion is false. I cannot find anything resembling a syllogism in your text. There are no arguments; there are words like 'thus', to indicate that one statement is being inferred from another, or two statements are being held to jointly entail a third. How many arguments have you discerned in the text?

How about computer art?
Q. Do you think that, as an art form, the digital masterpieces being created entirely within computer systems are as valid as those created by more traditional real-world techniques? I ask because a lot of people I have spoken to in the real world seem to think that computerised art is not "real" art and react to it with some measure of disdain. But to my mind these modern artists are every bit as skilled as real world artists, they just use different media to get the job done. Then I take a look at some so-called art in the real world and despair; piles of old tyres and stacked bricks, dissected horses and squalid, unmade beds just don't float my boat the way some of those fractals, 3D images and airbrushed miracles do. I'd give my eye… [cont.]
