What's the difference between regular geometry and analytical geometry?
Q. Is analytical geometry an easier or harder version of regular geometry? I'm a freshman in high school and got into analytical geometry. What are the main differences?
Asked by :] - Mon Aug 17 01:45:41 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think the analytical geometry is the coordinate geometry where we use the distance formula, midpoint formula, and coordinate graphs.

What college degree deals more with geometry?
Q. So, here are the details. I found out that I'm good in geometry and I love geometry. So in return, I'm planning to pursue a course relating to geometry. So, what courses do you suggest for me? I also love proving and I find them easy. Thank you very much!

A. I agree with woodrow wilson, architecture would be the ideal career for you. Other careers I would suggest you look into are mechanical, civil, or industrial engineering. All of these careers have their own bachelors degree available for them. I am not positive but I think that the people who controll air traffic have to use geometry to pinpoint planes and such.

What are examples of geometry that you use in every day life?
Q. I have to film a few examples of people using geometry in everyday life. I already have a video of my friends and me kicking a soccer ball at different angles into different spots on the goal. What else can I film of either myself, my friends, or something you commonly see people doing? Would skateboarding be considered geometry? If so, how?

What's the difference between VSEPR geometry and shape?
Q. My chem homework has two questions: 1. Predict the VSEPR geometries around the N atoms in ammonia 2. Predict the shapes around the N atoms in ammonia. I thought geometry and shape were the same thing?
Asked by Hannah - Tue Nov 3 15:57:34 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No, they're different. Water for example has two non-bonding pairs of electrons. Its shape is "bent". Ammonia (NH3) is "trigonal pyramid", and methane (CH4) is "tetrahedral", all different shapes with the same electronic configuration. Just to be clear, "geometry" refers to the position of electron pairs in space, "shape" refers to the position of atoms.

Some examples are the bay bridge, eiffel tower a ferris wheel, and a shelf, but those are already taken. Im looking for some ideas on what to build so if you can give me some I'd really, really appreciate it. If u need any more info just tell me. Thanks!

A. Assemble the class into teams. Get one or two teams to draw geometric shapes to particular specifications, and cut them out with a "flap" attached to each side. Get another team or two to stick together the shapes into partial segments of a larger shape. Get your final one or two teams to assemble the finished models of 3D shapes. Alternately, get each student or team to work on a single, simpler project on their own. Award prizes for the fastest fully assembled model, the best constructed model, the best decorated model etc. You can use this free software to help you design your models:

what is a good way to study geometry?
Q. I have a weekness in geometry (basically math in general) but I want to know how to over come it (cause I only have a few more years in high school) my teacher is teaching ok but the things that she teaches don't seem to stick. What is a way that I can make geometry easy and fun to remember? I try to write down all the steps but I keep on getting lost. What are some easy ways for me to remember all of the steps?
Asked by BossLadi - Thu Feb 7 22:02:04 2008 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments

A. First off, try to be as organized as you possibly can. This is very important so you don't get lost. Heres some tips: - write as nealty as you can - keep your notebook very orgainized, neat, and clean - review, even if you don't have any tests or quizzes, its always great to go over what you learned in class that day - confused? ask questions. - extra help from the teacher is always another great option if you too shy to ask questions in class - pay attention. I know everybody can get the tendency from time to time to just glance out the window - come to class prepared. pencils, notebook, calculator If you follow this, math will be sooo much easier. And plus, teachers can tell the effort you put in so if you work… [cont.]

How is geometry used in figure skating and/or gymnastics?
Q. I'm doing a project for geometry about how geometry is used in sports and i decided to talk about either gymnastics or figure skating, but I need a little help with the information. Anything is helpful, so please and thank you!

A. For figure skating you could talk about how different jumps have different angle degrees or something. Like flips and loops are 360 and axels are 540 (1 and a half turns). Watching the movie ice princess might help you. :)

How does geometry influence the lives of biologists and artists?
Q. How does geometry influence the lives of biologists and artists? why would knowing and being able to work with geometry make artists' work more interesting and sometimes easier? Please be serious, and information. Thank you -Erin
Asked by erin - Thu Oct 29 19:22:55 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Every artist uses geometry weather they know it or not. Definition: 1. mathematics of shapes: the branch of mathematics that is concerned with the properties and relationships of points, lines, angles, curves, surfaces, and solids This is the key point to all art! Geometry was started after art its apart of it not the other way around. Just like how math was founded to support science. i'm not sure how it relates to biologists(since im not one)

A. My first attempt just disappeared, so ... I like your idea and would suggest you may find something useful amongst these. They're all by Miles Davis: Gone, Gone, Gone, or Buzzard Song from Porgy and Bess; extracts here: or All Blues (11 minutes so it seems infinite [!]) with its steady rhythm and chord progression: or, if you haven't already done so, you can join spotify.com and hear the whole tracks. For the second time, I hope you enjoy the music even if it doesn't fulfil your wish.

Q. My daughter is in Geometry and has started struggling and will go into Algebra 2 next year. Are there any good websites for tutorials? It's been years I really don't have the skills to teach her.
Asked by rsf - Fri May 4 16:35:25 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Algebra is the use of simple equations and variables to solve a problem. Geometry uses these equations and variables and applies then with various theorems to shapes. Algebra II is more complex equations and can deal with several variables in one problem. Hope that helps. As far as tutoring see if the school offers it, and if not then you can go to www.algebra.com or try sylvan, i have heard they are good.
