A. Well, everything... A split infinitive means that there's a word or words between the "to" and the base form of the verb in the infinitive. Example: to not mind, to boldly go Some people have a problem with split infinitives, but they're silly (IMHO). A gerund modifier could be a word that modifies a gerund, but you probably mean a gerundial modifier. A modifier is word or group of words that specifies or alters the meaning of another word or group of words (e.g., a BIG dog, the one on the left, my impossibly gorgeous sister). A gerund is a verb ending in -ing that is used as a noun. An example would be "Laughing is good for you." So, if by "gerund modifier" you mean something that modifies a gerund, an example would be "Laughing… [cont.]
