This is a list of countries ordered by the population of Muslims. Islam is the world's second largest religion after Christianity, according to a 2009 demographic study there are 1.57 billion adherents, comprising 23% of the world population.

Islam is the predominant religion in the Middle East, in northern half of Africa and in some parts of Asia. Large communities are also found in China, Eastern Europe and Russia. There are also large Muslim immigrant communities in other parts of the world, such as Western Europe, where Islam is the second largest religion after Christianity.

About 20% of Muslims live in Arab countries, 30% in the Indian subcontinent and 15.6% in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country by population. Approximately 50 of countries are Muslim-majority. Around 62% of the world's Muslims live in Asia, with over 683 million adherents in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Pakistan. According to U.S. government figures, in 2006 there were 20 million Muslims in China. In the Middle East, the non-Arab countries of Turkey and Iran are the largest Muslim-majority countries; in Africa, Egypt and Nigeria have the most populous Muslim communities.

A latest demographic study was conducted by the Pew Research Center in October 2009, where it released statistics of all countries and terrortories in the world providing approximate figures of the Muslim population. The study found there are 1.57 billion Muslims around the world (1 in 4 people). The portrait of the Muslim world showed there are more Muslims in Germany than in Lebanon or, China more than Syria. The data was analyzed from census and government data and estimated for 2009.

Predominantly Muslims are Sunni (87-90%) and 10-13% are Shi'a. The highest number of Muslims in the world were found in Asia-Pacific (61.9%), with only 20.1% in the Arab world, in Sub-Saharan Africa 15.3% and the rest of the population in Europe and the Americas.

Can one of you compassionate Christian conservatives show me the statute outlawing Islam in this country?
Q. I ask because in all your suppositions about how Obama is a Muslim and that's one of the many reasons he's not qualified to lead this country, you've never included this information. Thank you for your time.

A. Wow... where to begin! First and most importantly Obama is a Christian. Sorry to disappoint you! Obama may be many things but muslim isn't one of them. He is clearly a smart and highly educated person and leaving islam was one of the smartest things he ever did. I actually would be in favor of a law outlawing muslims from holding elective office. Many of them are certifiably crazy and insist on implementing sharia law where and whenever possible.

How did the Islam invasion into India change the country in intellectual, economic, and religious ways?
Q. I.E: art changes, literature changes, music, math, astronomy anything that is classified under '"the arts". I.E: trade, currency I.E: hindu, buddhism, and Islam's affect on the people. Who converted? Why?
Asked by A S - Thu Oct 2 19:53:18 2008 - - 1 Answers - 2 Comments

A. The Islamic invasion of India did little to change the country on an intellectual and technological level, because most of the learning and academics that the Arabs and Persians learned, came from India. Furthermore India was not invaded by Muslims or Persians but I believe by one of the many Muslim kingdoms in one of the stans. I think it was Pakistan or Afghanistant, it was one of those. As to how it changed it, the main thing it changed was the social order; whereas before northern India was governed strictly by a caste system, as Islam spread throughout the north, many from among the lower and Dalit castes converted to Islam. Intellectually, Muslims did little to nothing as far as contribution because the region was already "smart." [cont.]

How can Islam be called the religion of peace when it was spread by the sword?
Q. It is a common complaint among some non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force. The following points will make it clear, that far from being spread by the sword, it was the inherent force of truth, reason and logic that was responsible for the rapid spread of Islam. Islam means peace. Islam comes from the root word salaam , which means peace. It also means submitting one s will to Allah (swt). Thus Islam is a religion of peace, which is acquired by submitting one s will to the will of the Supreme Creator, Allah (swt). Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace. Each and every human being in this world is not in favor of maintaining peace and… [cont.]

A. start thinking a little, can u force some1 to believe something? for example if i threaten to kill you if you don't become a muslim would you convert? even if you converted it wouldn't be free will and , it would be by force. Islam says whoever converts to this religion 'will be tested' in their faith otherwise they won't be counted as real muslims. so how the h-ll can some1 force another person to believe ysomething from the bottom of his\her heart? and again... u can't force some1 to believe something..
