Jesus of Nazareth (c. 4 BC/BCE – c. 30 AD/CE), also known as Jesus Christ, is the central figure of Christianity, which views him as the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament, with most Christian denominations believing him to be the Son of God who was raised from the dead. Islam considers Jesus a prophet and also the Messiah. Several other religions revere him in some way. He is one of the most influential figures in human history.

The principal sources of information regarding Jesus' life and teachings are the four canonical gospels, especially the Synoptic Gospels, though some scholars argue such texts as the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of the Hebrews are also relevant.

Most critical scholars in biblical studies believe that some parts of the New Testament are useful for reconstructing Jesus' life, agreeing that Jesus was a Jew who was regarded as a teacher and healer, that he was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified in Jerusalem on the orders of the Roman Prefect of Judaea, Pontius Pilate, on the charge of sedition against the Roman Empire. Aside from these few conclusions, academic debate continues regarding the chronology, the central message of Jesus' preaching, his social class, cultural environment, and religious orientation. Scholars offer competing descriptions of Jesus as the awaited Messiah, as a self-described Messiah, as the leader of an apocalyptic movement, as an itinerant sage, as a charismatic healer, and as the founder of an independent religious movement.

Christians predominantly believe that Jesus is the "Son of God" (generally meaning that he is God the Son, the second person in the Trinity) who came to provide salvation and reconciliation with God by his death for their sins. Other Christian beliefs include Jesus' virgin birth, performance of miracles, ascension into Heaven, and a future Second Coming. While the doctrine of the Trinity is accepted by most Christians, a few groups reject the doctrine of the Trinity, wholly or partly, as non-scriptural.

In Islam, Jesus (Arabic: عيسى‎, commonly transliterated as Isa) is considered one of God's important prophets, a bringer of scripture, and a worker of miracles. Jesus is also called "Messiah", but Islam does not teach that he was divine. Islam teaches that Jesus ascended bodily to heaven without experiencing the crucifixion and resurrection, rather than the traditional Christian belief of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

A. Yes, certainly prayer helps. Ask God to use you every day of your life as He sees fit. Live your life as close to the way Christ would as you can. A smile, hug, letting someone get in front of you at the store, letting a car out of a parking lot, giving food and clothing to those less fortunate ... Every day presents opportunities to let God's light shine through you. You may not know the good you've done for someone until you come face-to-face with God. I ask Him that I be able to help at least one person each day. Sometimes I know I've helped. Oftentimes I don't know. Still I feel uplifted when I shine His light in the world. God bless you as you do His work.

A. Ok, Jesus did not exist Until born of Mary, Prior to the Christ, Or the end member of the Trinity was regarded and known as the Angel of the Lord, Note this Exd 3:2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush [was] not consumed. Notice ? Angel of the Lord ? and look at the next Verse 4 Exd 3:4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here [am] I. So The Angel of The Lord is God Now Read Gen 16, Note verse 16 of that Chapter Now Read Numbers 22 ,Just what is the Angel of the Lord in that Chapter ? The Authority of The Angel… [cont.]

What is the basis for the insinuation that a statement by Jesus is more important than other Bible teachings?
Q. Of course, in this forum it is sometimes more than insinuation. Some outright claim that if something is taught in the Bible but not specifically mentioned by Jesus, it somehow carries more authority. Yes, I'm aware that "red-letter Bibles" which showed Jesus' words in red used to be very popular. But I find it interesting that it is often the anti-Christian posts which seem to want to focus on dividing the Bible's teachings into Jesus and non-Jesus doctrine.

A. All very good answers. There shouldn't be any more importance in a statement made by Jesus than any other passage of the bible. It all supposedly came from God anyway...2 Tim 3:16. Anti-Christian posts as you put it focus on dividing the Bible's teaching into those 2 categories because they haven't read the whole thing (most likely) and assume that the passages actually spoken by Jesus are more accurate than the 'men' that wrote the others...just a guess
