Science (from the Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge") refers to any systematic knowledge-base or prescriptive practice that is capable of resulting in a prediction or predictable type of outcome. In this sense, science may refer to a highly skilled technique or practice. In its more restricted contemporary sense, science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge based on scientific method, and to the organized body of knowledge gained through such research. This article focuses on the more restricted use of the word. Science as discussed in this article is sometimes called experimental science to differentiate it from applied science—the application of scientific research to specific human needs—although the two are often interconnected. Science is a continuing effort to discover and increase human knowledge and understanding through disciplined research. Using controlled methods, scientists collect observable evidence of natural or social phenomena, record measurable data relating to the observations, and analyze this information to construct theoretical explanations of how things work. The methods of scientific research include the generation of hypotheses about how phenomena work, and experimentation that tests these hypotheses under controlled conditions. Scientists are also expected to publish their information so other scientists can do similar experiments to double-check their conclusions. The results of this process enable better understanding of past events, and better ability to predict future events of the same kind as those that have been tested. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "Science" What is the best science course to take for non-majors in your mind? Q. I typically am really bored of science, I think it totally useless for my life. For instance I don't care what the density of mercury is, or how many moons Jupiter has, none of those things affect my daily life. By course, I mean like Chemistry, Biology or Microbiology, Physics, Earth Science, etc. I have almost graduated from my sophomore year of college I just need a science class. Asked by shaolt2002 - Sat Mar 31 03:08:10 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. well first off, college science courses aren't about memorizing dumb facts like the # of moons jupiter has..thats more hs stuff.. so dont worry about that.. I'd say definitely Bio. it has the most 'useful' information if youre not going into a science field or have no interest in science whatsoever...i found Astronomy to be really interesting though Answered by melody - Sat Mar 31 03:25:11 2007 What science related class should I take for my junior year of High School? Q. So I'm taking Chemistry instead of Earth Science my Sophomore year, so next year I have a choice of three things: 1. Physics H 2. IB Biology 3. Anatomy I'm planning to be a computer engineer when I grow up, so Physics would be the right choice? What do you learn in Physics? For the most part is it difficult? more or less difficult than chemistry? Asked by wattt - Tue Feb 10 20:11:22 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. If you want to be an engineer, go with physics. You'll need to take a lot of it in college, so get a head start on it now (even though you'll need calculus-based physics in college). The basic intro physics course, at high school or college level will cover Newtonian mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, optics, maybe a little special relativity or intro to basic quantum mechanics. It's a lot more math than chemistry, and that might trip some people up. I thought chemistry was easier, personally. Answered by eri - Tue Feb 10 20:18:26 2009 What science should I take senior year?
Q. I am a highshcool junior & I have straight A's. I am getting scheduled for my senior year, but am unsure about what science to take next year. My school only needs 3 years of science to graduate & i am not planning on majoring with anything that has to do with science. However, I hope to get a scholarship for college. Which should I take, physics 100 or environmental science 100. Which would look better to colleges, but not bring down my GPA? thanksss alott! <3 Asked by Sam - Fri Feb 1 19:25:51 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I think physics would look a little better than envi sci since it's more quantitative. Answered by Doublemint - Fri Feb 1 19:32:00 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Science" Science in the broadest sense refers to any system of objective knowledge. In a more restricted sense, science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge based on the scientific method, as well as to the organized body of knowledge humans have gained by such research.
