Social studies, as defined by the National Council for Social Studies, is "the integrated study of the social sciences and humanities to promote civic competence". Social studies is most commonly recognized as the name of a course or set of courses taught in primary and secondary schools, but may also refer to the study of particular aspects of human society at certain post-secondary and tertiary schools worldwide.

What is an interesting subject for social studies?
Q. I need to write an essay about "year long experiment/case study for social studies/history subject". Just wanted to see if anyone could give me some sample experiments/ studies to get me inspired? It'll be much appreciated. I do have some ideas about studying the bases of human motivation or (using my trip to India to do) a study on what makes people happy... I'm not actually doing a year long study as you might have guessed..it's just the topic The essay is quite important and I don't want to cheat off the net but some inspiration would be helpful.

A. A friend had the same project! How about what people will do/how far people will go for money. A lot of reality TV shows involve crazy or dangerous activities with the promise of money...is it worth it? Good luck!

A. a journal as a mother, father or chidl during that time in history, what woudl they write about, what did most fathers do at that time? work in a farm, planation? they would have to describe the home they live in the clothes, and what they eat. I think this is a great way for them to understand how long ago these historic papers were created.
