I don't know if it is . anxiety. , the classroom environment, or what. But something has to change before I fail. If anyone has any suggestions I'm listening. Also, how can I bring this up to my teachers? ... I am mainly having the problem in my . math. (pre-calculus) class, although it is apparent in some of my other classes (just less severely). Q. I am way behind what I should be for college math. I make straight A's, and have a 3.8 GPA, but next semester will be starting my math courses. I've always been behind in math, and am having some real anxiety for the upcoming semester. I'm taking a remedial course so I can prep for Algebra (which is like Greek to me), and I really want to learn it. I was always in the "special education" when it came to math, but never had any problems with anything else. To be frank, I think I would have learned math better had I not been in the "sped" math class. I know I'm capable of learning, I'm just so far behind. I just need somebody to sit with me and explain in detail how to work problems out, and how to work certain formulas. I always have a… [cont.]

A. Visit the Mathematics department and ask the teachers, if they know of a talented math student that they could recommend as a tutor. This way it will be *much cheaper* than hiring a professional tudor & this person will be close to the campus so you can meet there. Also, they can explain it in a way you can understand. BTW, have you considered taking the class pass/fail so it won't effect your GPA. Usually each College/Univ. has a limit of how many classes you can take... but as long as you get a passing grade you pass and it will not effect your GPA.
