What would be some advantages/disadvantages of setting up a business in Nevada?
Q. I live in California but I have property in Nevada. I was considering registering my business in Nevada and heard that one doesn't even need to be a resident of Nevada to do so. Is this true? Does anyone have experience with doing this? Are there any drawbacks to doing so? Thanks.

A. Most likely as long as the business will operate in Nevada, it does not matter what state the owner is from. Nevada has a much more business-friendly tax and regulatory environment, which is why its growing so rapidly because lots of Californians have considered doing what you are doing (also many have moved alotogether). I can't think of any drawbacks as long as you comply with the Nevada Tax and regulatory laws as well as your own. Check with a good attorney or SCORE counselor to be sure. Go to - they are a nonprofit that offer business counseling for free and they are affiliated with the SBA so its not a scam. See what advice they offer. Good Luck - Esmeralda.
