Is there something else I can use besides puzzle glue to hold my puzzles together?
Q. A while back I was in Wal-Mart buying a puzzle and they had this stuff to hold your puzzles together but instead of being the regular glue it was like a big sticker sheet that you stuck to the back of the finished puzzle. I didn't buy it then and now I wish I had because since then I am unable to find it again. Has anybody ever heard of this stuff and do you know what its actually called?

A. One alternative would be acrylic medium. It comes in mat and glossy. One would paint this on the finished puzzle sort of gluing it together. This is the stuff artists use when they want to thin the color of acrylic paint they are using but want more body than water. This can normally be found by the artist's paint section.

What are some puzzles like Sudoku that I can get online?
Q. I like puzzles like Sudoku, Add Them Up (found in a newspaper), kakuro and anything like them. I also like the puzzles that you have to try and draw without taking your pencil off the paper. But I need them to be able to print off so I can do them away from the computer. Any websites that have any of these puzzles would be helpful. Or if you know anyother puzzles like these that would be fun you could mention them too.

A. Tips 1) Plan your moves in advance, you'll start seeing where exactly you need to move pieces to get it to match 2) Try breaking it up to parts, don't try to complete the puzzle in 1 go. See if you can complete a corner.

What do you do with puzzles which you have completed? Is there such thing as a puzzle swap club?
Q. I just got into doing jig-saw puzzles and I am wondering what I can do with the ones I have completed. They are so beautiful and I don't have the space to hang them up, and it seems such a shame to let something so nice sit in a box. I wonder if there is such a thing where you can swap puzzles with fellow puzzlers?

What puzzles/activities help improve your lateral thinking and computation skills?
Q. I'm trying to improve my thinking speed, memory recall and lateral thinking to improve my ability to perform in university exams (I do a very mathematical and intensive course). Apparently, puzzles and games can help. I just want to know which ones (you would understand if crosswords don't do 'jack'). Sukudo's one of them, but what are the others? Unhelpful comments would be thumbed down. Cheers.

A. We put all puzzle pieces in zip lock bags and mark each one with markers so we can tell which puzzle they go to. Mark the puzzle itself and the bag so the kids can tell too. We used stamps on the back of the puzzle and the pieces for a long time - so they were all the same for each puzzle that worked too. But zip locks seem to keep the pieces together better

What to do after you solve all the Virtual Villagers puzzles?
Q. Thanks to the answers I found here, I have solved all the puzzles, have a golden child and opened the cave. What do I do next? (I also found the box, but haven't finished digging it up yet.) Is there another part of the island to get to? And if, so how do I get there?

A. The box is below the food pile to the left of the temple inorder to dig it up you have to have a master builder and all science tech points. To get the golden child you first have to have level 3 tech points in farming and drop a master farmer in the lagoon to catch the magic fish then you have to have level 3 tech points in fertility and the idol and the temple built then you drag and adept mother who is nursing her baby into the lagoon. Hope this helps

A. I'd recommend the wooden puzzles by Melissa and Doug. You can get them at all of the major retailers (Target, ToysRUs) and Amazon, and at boutique toy stores as well. I haven't seen them at KB, but that doesn't mean they don't have them.

A. "Puzzle glue," then use that blue sticky stuff to hang them up. The blue putty stuff comes off easy without ripping, and you don't have to put a nail or tack through the picture.

What are some options for framing unique-size puzzles?
Q. I'm looking for options for framing/displaying finished jigsaw puzzles. I have a finished 27"x20" puzzle, and if you know of any sites that sell adjustable frames, or customized frames at a good price (and that accept Paypal), or have any other ideas for displaying them (and keeping them safe at the same time), please let me know. Thank you.
Asked by Christian - Mon Mar 12 22:28:49 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I actually have some pictures of the puzzle I framed if you would like to see them. My puzzle was odd shaped also and so I went to Hobby Lobby and found a frame that was a couple inches larger on each side. Then I bought a piece of matting that matched the color of my puzzle and cut it to fit the frame. I then glued my puzzle in the center of this matting and placed it in the frame and it looks great. I can't remeber exactly but I believe the frame that I used was 28"x22". Also, you probably already know this but before you frame your puzzle make sure you go to the hobby store and pick up the puzzle sealer to make sure your puzzle stays together while framed. I will upload my puzzle and post a link on here for you to view. Here are… [cont.]

Q. I'm thinking of getting into it as a new hobby, but mostly see childrens puzzles.
Asked by whatsablooker - Thu Jan 25 12:19:42 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. My mother does. She buys them, puts them together then puts a coat of Elmer's glue on the front. She has done so many over the past years that I wouldn't even be able to tell you how many she has, but they are put together and stacked about 4 feet tall, except the ones she has framed and hung or given away. She gets most of hers from Wal Mart and Hobby Lobby. Just look through them all. You will find many beautiful 1000 piece puzzles that are for adults, but some children can do them if they can sit still long enough.
