Is being in the International Baccalaureate(IB) program helpful in getting into a good college?
Q. I'm a freshman now and I'm in the pre-IB program. I want to continue and get into IB. I am taking honors classes and have all A's except one B+. I was just wondering if colleges look for things like being in the IB program. Also, does that one B+ affect my chances of getting into a really good school such as Stanford?

A. I received my I.B. Diploma a week ago (living in South America I graduated from high school in December) and have applied to five universities in the States. Let me tell you something - the I.B. is what's saving my behind right now. These are the benefits its bringing me: I get about a year of advanced placement in university (I'm going to be starting freshman year taking some sophomore classes), I am getting very good job opportunities that many high school graduates my age otherwise could not even apply for (being fluent in three languages helps too i admit) and my I.B. grades compensate for parts of my transcript (like it would the B+ in your case).
