What are some good lesson plans for a 2nd grade oppositional and defiant child specifically math & eng?
Q. I'm a LD teacher and am working with a 2nd grader one-on-one who is perfectally happy walking up and down the halls. I've tried schedules based on 10 min incriments with rewards based on completing 2-3 problems over the course of 20 min. He says that he wants to work to planning bball in the gym but won't complete even 2 problems or sit down to hear the directions to a game to get to that point. Does anyone have suggested lesson plans that would work one-on-one with this very ADHD and oppositional and defiant child?

A. You need to incorporate your behavioral modification plan into your academic instruction. With a child with severe behavior problems, the behaviors must be remediated before it is possible to bring the child into a "normal" special ed instruction/curriculum format for LD, SLI, etc. Task analyze your student's behavior needs...it looks like you're already working on attentiveness. However, your time segments appear to be too long at this point to shape his behavior. Also, you need additional reinforcers besides the one game he likes. I have one young lady with severe behavior, that is currently on a 5-minutes-on-task, 5-minutes-free-time schedule (we'll be building to 15 minutes on-task slowly over the next year or so... one minute at a… [cont.]

Do you know of any websites that have worksheets/lesson plans for 5th graders?
Q. I am 13 and next week I start tutoring my neighbor's 10 year old daughter in math. In NYC, 5th graders use Everyday Math by McGraw-Hill. I cannot find worksheets or lesson plans for this curriculum.

Does anyone know where I can buy custom lesson plans for elementary grade levels?
Q. I need quite a few lesson plans for grades k-3. They need to be 750-1000 words. One needs to be phonics, one on word study or fluency, one on vocabulary, and one on reading comprehension. I have such a hard time coming up with fresh ideas. Any help would be great. Even if you just throw some ideas my way. Thanks
