From Google News Search: "At-Risk Students" How come at-risk students aren't served well in mainstream schools? (They are placed with disabled students.) Q. At-risk students (those with needs that aren't associated with a disability) Asked by Dakota Fanning Fan - Thu Jun 14 11:43:27 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. at risk students are just that at risk of failing a particular grade or subject, and are often falling thru the cracks in a mainstream program and often the specialists who can best serve this population are in one place, so the children are sent to that site. as for one of the above responses, yes i can see that you are angry over the fact that your family members did not get the help they needed but not every school or district is the same way. i have worked in several schools and school districts and have served as a teacher, tutor, parent/child advocate and over all have been a parent of a special needs child ( who was ident by a very special teacher when he was 5, but not served by his school district till he was almost 11 yrs old),… [cont.] Answered by TchrzPt - Thu Jun 14 22:03:47 2007 At risk of being flamed, I am convinced that A-levels have been dumbed down. Do you agree? Q. There are some exams where the pass mark has been set at 30%, or even as low as 16%. Plus there is a trend for students to take 'easier' subjects such as Geography and avoid some of the sciences. Many employers are now having to send new intakes to classes in reading, writing or numeracy classes. Asked by Transuranic - Mon Sep 11 18:01:06 2006 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. Yes, and the GCSE too. I see all the results in the newspaper and thing back to how many of my class got 10 A'S at O level - none. Yes the inclusion of coursework in the final grade is a factor, but how should that result in a higher grade than the original Benchmark? Does that mean all of our grades should be increased for a valid comparison, as by rights I got 157% in the final test. Answered by 'Dr Greene' - Wed Sep 13 10:06:42 2006 Is it possible for me to get a per diem physical therapy assistant job?
Q. I am employed full-time and have a BS Biology with a good GPA from a top college and have clerical, technical writing, and customer service experience. The problem is I have had too many jobs and no clear direction. If I get a 4.0 in the A.S. program, will I even get calls for interviews? I know there is great demand in this field. I thought of writing a career-change resume that would highlight my hospital volunteering experience, my experience dealing with at-risk students, and my scientific writing skills, as well as my health-related background. Do you think this strategy will work? I had a problem with tardiness before, too, but not recently. Asked by reallynicegirl - Thu Jul 31 23:38:01 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. When you say the A.S. program, I assume that means you are enrolled in an accredited PTA program. If not, you will not be able to work as a PTA...only a tech. However, as a PTA, per diem work is always possible. Weekends at hospitals, nursing homes and rehab centers are always hard to fill.
