Q. Teacher's Unions- What are the average dues for annual membership in teacher's unions? Asked by janealsteed - Wed Feb 27 02:40:10 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. In most states, it all depends on which teacher's union or union you belong to. Many are based on the average salary in the state. You may belong to your local association, state association, national association plus any associations that deal with your area of teaching. Best guess is anywhere from $500 to $1000 a year. For that you usually get $1,000,000 in liability coverage, lawyer coverage, professional support, workshops, training, help in local negotiations, & some insurance. Answered by Kahless - Wed Feb 27 09:59:31 2008 Why is the UFT (teacher union of NY)so weak?
Q. Im a teacher and it seems like its weak. Where are all the union dues going? They dont do anything about the bad conditions in the classroom . They let the city give the power to the kids but not the teachers . The administrators are not qualified. The pay is so low. Other unions are strong like the NYPD , and Sanitation. Why UFT? The teachers are the ones that have the biggest impact! Why dont they get the support? Asked by 61Keys - Sun Oct 19 23:50:46 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. A union is only as strong as its membership. It sounds as if you have the right quallifications to run for a union position, it takes dedication but your rights can be improved with the support of the union as a whole.
