Information Technology - Network Cabling Question... - Well kinda...?
Q. Hi I am thinking about going into a program called a Network Cabling Specialist. It's a 3 month program(including a interning process at the end of the program). I have a bachelors in management and organizational development but am unhappy with the pay (I make 14.00 an hour). I was hoping that i would be able to live comfortably, if I got my education, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I am currently a project coordinator for a I.T department and am interested in becoming hands-on, with the technical side of I.T instead of the I.T. Business only side. Please tell me what you think... Do you think the job market is right for me to be making a career change right now? Also, what type of jobs would I be able to get and about how much… [cont.]

A. I believe a Network Cabling Specialist is nothing more than a "wire-puller". The only difference between that and an electrician apprentice would be that you know how to terminate RJ-45 and 110 blocks, but I don't know that you would make more than 14 bucks and hour. I could be completely wrong, though. If you want "technical" and higher pay, then pulling cable may not be the best solution for you. The class you mentioned might be a good learning experience, but don't stop there. Use that as a stepping stone towards something like a CCNA or NCSS certifications. I am a network engineer and I don't touch cables (unless I just want to); I hire people to do that for me. All I have to do is design the infrastructure and then pay some… [cont.]

A. I see no Education. This should be a separate category. It seems you mixed education and work experience together. Theses should be separate. If I'm confused, a potential employer will be too, and that's not good.

Q. Here are a few juicy bits from the plan that Obama says is going to save us all and contains no earmarks...which is a LIE! You would have to be an absolute brain donor in order to believe that this has anything to do with creating jobs! Now you may agree with some of these programs and even like some of them...but ask yourself...does this help Bob who just got laid off from his job at a factory making car parts? A. It is just another con job by the biggest con artist of the century. Capitalism is a self repairing system given time- it would have recovered on its own. He should know that if he has half a brain so this is just a way to get his agenda moving in the direction he wants deceptively. I predict it will actually make things worse as it will backfire and we will be left in worse shape in a few years. I truly hope that enough of the American public see's him for who he really is and he does not get re-elected. The damage he has created in just 3 weeks has been significant, think of in 4 years how much more he will have done.
