A. The Appalachian Mountains became the border of the 13 colonies because it was hard to get over them. Would you want to climb over those? About 150 years into the first settlements some brave peeps went over and came into French Territory. ouch. Better to stay by the river than to cross them. Those rivers are huge!!! But later it became a way of transportation!!! They lived more towards the south because it was warmer and had more rain. Better for farming. did i help?
