K–12 (pronounced just "kay twelve", or "kay through twelve", "kay to twelve") is a designation for the sum of primary and secondary education. It is used in the United States, Canada, and some parts of Australia. The expression is a shortening of Kindergarten (5 or 6-year-old) through 12th grade (or grade 12) (generally 17 or 18-year-old), the first and last grades of free education in the United States, Australia and English Canada. By contrast, K–14 education also includes community colleges (first two years of university) and K–16 education adds a four-year undergraduate university degree. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "K-12" Is there any current federal legislation/policies regarding K-12 school recycling programs? Q. Anything regarding recycling programs or recycling centres in schools in the United States. Are there any policies regulating or mandating recycling centres in the United States? Are recycling programs regulated by state or local government, or can they be mandated by federal government? Thanks in advance! Asked by Devia - Sat Mar 21 18:08:09 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. the federal government does not regular education, even though it's suppose to. Only states regular it and I've never heard of a state mandate for recycling, but then again I haven't checked all 50. Answered by armus75 - Sat Mar 21 18:21:22 2009 I want to teach college level music, but all my experience is in K-12 and I can't get a position at a college? Q. I really really really want to teach college level and it's always been a dream of mine. But, in order to make ends meet, for the past 14 years, I've been teaching primarily K-8. Therefore, I have no experience with college students. So how should I go about getting the experience, but still have a paycheck? Asked by Mica D - Fri May 29 00:34:34 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You will have to TA to get your foot in the door. A good place to start is typically with the marching program... they always need TAs. This would also allow you to keep your steady job as marching is typically only a few hours a week and a couple weeks in the summer.
