From Google News Search: "Regional Contests" which colleges should I apply to? Q. I'm an international student that wants to apply to colleges in the States. My high school gpa is 85/100 (we use that scale here, which I thing translates to sth like 3.4), I'm on my school's debating team and music ensemble. I've won a few creative writing regional contests, a national math competition when I was in the 6th grade (I know that doesn't matter but anyway...) and I've studied piano for 2 years and clarinet for 5. I'm also a goalee for my school's hockey team but I'm not really good at that so I don't think I can rely on it for admissions. Harvard is also always high on the list for anyone studying Poli/Sci (Being an international student always opens up more doors even to the top schools). I would put most of the DC schools (e.g. Catholic University, American University, George Mason College). I would also put most of the state universities that are in state capitols (e.g. SUNY Albany, UT Austin, Sac State) and also private universities in capital cities (e.g. University of Denver) - these all will provide extra linkages and real life opportunities to play in the political world. studying poli - sci in one of the elite private colleges is often not as great (I did this for a year at Middlebury - bad choice).
