The State of Louisiana (pronounced /luːˌiːziˈænə/ ( listen) or /ˌluːziˈænə/ ( listen); French: État de Louisiane, [lwizjan] ( listen); Louisiana Creole: Léta de la Lwizyàn) is a state located in the southern region of the United States of America. Its capital is Baton Rouge and largest city is New Orleans. Louisiana is the only state divided into parishes, which are local governments equivalent to counties. The largest parish by population is Jefferson Parish, and the largest by land area is Cameron Parish. Some Louisiana urban environments have a multicultural, multilingual heritage, being so strongly influenced by an admixture of 18th century French, Spanish and African cultures that they have been considered somewhat exceptional in the U.S. Before the American influx and statehood at the beginning of the 19th century, the territory of current Louisiana State had been a Spanish and French colony. In addition, the pattern of development included importing numerous Africans in the 18th century, with many from the same region of West Africa, thus concentrating their culture. The Louisiana Dept of Revenue is trying to say my husband owes taxes from 1994 & 1995 can they go back that far? How long are you supposed to keep LA state tax returns? Asked by lynng814 - Wed Jun 27 21:04:56 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. If your husband did not file those tax returns, there is no statute of limitations. If he filed the returns, there is a 10-year statute of limitations from the date taxes were assessed for the state to collect (just like the IRS). There is a 3-year statute of limitations from the date of filing for the state to assess additional taxes. No statute of limitations on fraud. If he filed timely and additional taxes were assessed, then the statute of limitations is about to run out. The State of Louisiana may be trying to collect before the deadline. If you agree to an extension, they will continue collection efforts. So for Louisiana, I'd keep all my tax returns for three years, and if there are additional taxes assessed within that… [cont.] Answered by ninasgramma - Wed Jun 27 21:51:53 2007 Why was the Louisiana Purchase offered at such a low price?
Q. This is for school, why was the Louisiana Purchase offered a such a low price, 3 cents per acre? Asked by Lori M. H. - Sat Apr 12 12:42:06 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. The Louisiana Purchase was so low because the guy who owned, Napoleon Bonaparte, needed the money. After being defeated in Europe while he was trying to take over the world, he was in great debt. Desperate, he took whatever he could just to pay it off. This was good news for the U.S., whose president at that time was Thomas Jefferson, who was able to double their land size. It is known as one of the best deals in U.S. history. Answered by KillerKhan100 - Sat Apr 12 12:48:02 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Louisiana"
