The thirty-fourth largest state by area in the U.S., it is the seventh-most populous with nearly 11.5 million residents. Ohio, whose name was derived from the Seneca word ohi:yo’, meaning "large creek," was formed primarily from the Ohio Territory and was admitted to the Union as the seventeenth state (and the first under the Northwest Ordinance) on March 1, 1803. Ohio is known as the "Buckeye State" for its prevalence of Ohio Buckeye trees, and, as such, Ohioans are also known as "Buckeyes." The government of Ohio is composed of the executive branch, led by the Governor; the legislative branch, which comprises the Ohio General Assembly; and the judicial branch, which is led by the Supreme Court. Currently, Ohio occupies 18 seats in the United States House of Representatives. Ohio is known for its status as both a swing state and a bellwether in national elections. The population density of Ohio ranks ninth among all U.S. states. Nonetheless, Ohio currently suffers from a negative net population migration, and an increasing rate of unemployment. GNU Free Documentation License How much does one acre cost in Ohio? Q. So I was just wondering how much it would cost to buy an acre of just plain field. It wouldn't have anything on it. Just dirt. Does anyone know how much it would cost? I live in New Richmond, Ohio. Oh, and the land is out in the country. Thanks a lot! The land is currently being used to farming soybeans and corn. But if we bought it, it would be used to just fence in a little arena to ride my horses in. So it would probably be a little less than an acre. Asked by christina & cisco - Sat Nov 15 15:38:17 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Ohio farmland is running about $2500 per acre. With premium farmland going for $3000 to $5000 per acre. If you buy forested land, you could find it for a lot less than that. but you'd have to clear it, it may be rocky, or hilly. If your intent isn't farming, you could probably find land somewhere in Ohio for $500 to $1000 per acre...again, it would be unsuitable for farming, and possibly inaccessible to main roads, or otherwise far from civilization. If you're talking about residential land - with access to utilities nearby, then you're talking a lot more - $1000 to $2000 an acre. I live in Russells Point,Ohio. , am a senior that needs dental work, but all I have is Medicare. Asked by mistyrain210 - Wed Jan 9 19:20:14 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Unfortunately Medicare doesn't pay a ton. You are going to end up paying something out of pocket. I don't know any insurance companies that pay everything. This is going to be a pain to do but here is a link to all dentist in or close to your area call them and talk to the receptionist. He or she will be able to explain your benefits and tell you what you might have to pay out of pocket. Its what they are there for. Let them know what your medicare plan pays and ask what all it would cover. Thats the best advice I can give. Sorry! Hope you find what you need! Q. Ohio State lost a close game (28-21) to a good team (Illinois, who is 9-3 overall). But since they lost late in the season, they will be kept out of the national championship game. Does anyone feel that they deserve a chance to play for the national title? Asked by p8tblr36 - Sat Nov 17 19:58:24 2007 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments A. They seem as deserving right now as every team not from Lawrence; if Hawaii beats BSU next week, they will deserve a close look as well. OSU belongs right in the mix, though, as they have the best looking loss of the major one loss teams right now--Illinois will end the regular season in the top 20, while Colorado, Kentucky and (snicker) South Florida will be on the outside looking in.
