Sharia (Arabic: '‎شريعة Šarīʿah) is the body of Islamic religious law. The term means "way" or "path to the water source". It is the legal framework within which the public and private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a legal system based on Islamic principles of jurisprudence and for Muslims living outside the domain. Sharia deals with many aspects of day-to-day life, including politics, economics, banking, business, contracts, family, sexuality, hygiene, and social issues.

Islamic law is now the most widely used religious law, and one of the three most common legal systems of the world alongside common law and civil law. During the Islamic Golden Age, classical Islamic law may have influenced the development of common law, and also influenced the development of several civil law institutions.

Q. Iran practices Sharia Law, and in Saudi Arabia they follow a strict form of Islam called Wahabism or something of the kind. Are there any fundamental differences between these two, besides their similarities of being oppressive to ones personal mental growth ?

A. Shariah Law is followed by all Muslim nations. It is the laws and commandants laid down by the Quran and Sunna of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.s. It is to be followed by all Muslims. Wahabism, is a school of thought brought by AbdulWahab and yes is practiced widely in Saudi Arabia. It is simply rulings by scholars in that school of thought that go into more detail than the Sharia does. No school of thought is to supersede or contradict the Shariah and if it does it is shirk. I don't know of any contradictions in Wahabism. Thanks for the question, as salam wa laikum.
