How to repair coffee table/end tables that have had water damage?
Q. I have a 2 yr old set of coffee table/end tables that are cherry. I was out of commission over the last year and family and friends that came to help set drinks on the coffee tables/end tables. The water has made the tops look like they have split or have huge scratches. Is there anyway to salvage these tables and make them look good again?

A. It sounds like the finish has fissured and water has gotten underneath. If this is the situation, it will soon flake off. If this is the situation, the only cure is to strip and refinish. If you are talking about white water marks (blushes), and the finish is still sound, then it's salvageable via a number of home remedies or proprietary products.

How can I connect tables through formulas in microsoft word 2007?
Q. I have 2 seperate tables with some different amounts added up in each of them, but in the 2nd table i would like to take the number i have in the 1st seperate table and add it to the number in the 2nd table. So that when I cange a number in the first table I can simply go through and hit update field in the second table and the new sum will appear.. Is there a way to do this? The tables have to be seperate

A. Yes, this can be done in a Word table. In your first table you need to add a formula. For example, if you have numbers in a column and you want to put a total at the bottom of that column, click in that cell, then click Layout, click Formula (at the far right of the toolbar). A dialog box opens with the following formula already filled in: =SUM(ABOVE). Click OK. Then, to put this same total in your second table, you have to create a bookmark first. Go back to your first table and highlight the total that you created (it should be grey which indicates a field code). With it highlighted or selected, click on Insert on the menu bar. There is a section on the toolbar called Links and an icon for Bookmark. Click the Bookmark icon. … [cont.]

How do I fill a table using data in two other tables in ms Access 2007?
Q. I have an asset database in MS Access 2007. It has three tables ASSETS, STAFF and LEND. The LEND table contains information about the items being borrowed by STAFF, date and some other details. I want the staff_id to be taken from STAFF table and asset_code to be taken from ASSET table so that I maintain data validity and concurrency. Can any one tell me how I can do this with user forms?

A. This is too complex to fully explain in a YA Answer, but here are the basics. You do this using combo boxes on your form. On your form design, from the toolbox select Combo box, double-click on your form. The Combo box wizard will open, asking a series of questions. Basically you want the Combo box to look up the values in a table or query. Select the table STAFF, select the fields you want to display on your combo box. These will probably be staff id and staff name. The Staff name (sorted alphabetically) is the field you use to choose, while the Staff ID is the field which is actually entered in your table. There's a lot more detail you need to know. I suggest you get hold of an Access manual which will describe in detail the… [cont.]

What is the best coating to use on some tables that scratch easily and will be outdoor?
Q. These tables are cheap - not wood (particle board with a smooth coating?) and they are made for indoor use. I want to put them outside though. They scratch very easily. What kind of thick durable coating can I put on these tables so they can be ok outdoors, putting cups on them, etc?
Asked by L - Wed Sep 2 14:02:07 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Use an OIL-based polyeurethene for wood. You'll need to put on several coats, so get a very fine grit sandpaper and a tack-cloth for between each coat. Also, it takes longer to dry. Once it's done it will be extremely durable.

How can I create an Access report using 2 different tables as my data source?
Q. I don't know too much about Access, but using its wizard help I can create reports based on 1 table/query. Now, I have 2 different tables with different data and I need to create a report which will use information from both of them. How can I do it? The wizard help is not helping me... Thanks!
Asked by agatha - Thu Aug 2 09:01:34 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Access provides a menu to create 'views' usually what you can do is create a 'view' which contains both tables and when the wizards ask for a report source you just point it to the view instead of the table itself. But be sure the two tables have a common field which you can tie them together for example both of them have the same account number / field. :) good luck

A. Buy some plastic sawhorses and some plywood (all at Lowes, Home Depot). Have them cut the plywood into 2 sections of 2x8. If you don't like that, Sams Club and Costco sell those tables. We have had plenty of garage sales, and the plywood/sawhorse trick works just as well as fancy tables (we have used both). .
