Looking for citation to High Court case from 25+ yrs ago involving BHP-ESSO and Victoria over oil excise duty?
Q. As I recall, about 25-30 years ago BHP-ESSO sued the State of Victoria in the Australian High Court in Canberra to object to paying an excise duty on oil. BHP-ESSO claimed that the State of Victoria had no contitutional authority to levy the charges, and demanded their money back. Victoria lost the case. Because the case is old, it is not readily searchable on the Internet. If anyone out there knows what the citation is, I would be grateful !

A. Walking will take you about 20 mins, by bus about the same, taxi maybe 10 mins on a good day, tube about the same. Or if your really feeling adventurous, train to Clapham Junction, change and then back to West Brompton station, Earls Court 2 min walk away. Good Luck

A. yes,i think so,but you should first get onto the R.T.A,give them a call&check what you'r rights are.You do not have to go as far as court,i think you can have the police go with you&you only have to give them a written notice to vacate.I can find out for you if you have the time,i shall be talking to such like people tomorrow... P.S.also if you go to any realestate agent(rental)on the net, they have a section there which details all of the rights of the owners&renters. Good luck

Q. what is the quickest and easiest to get from london victoria coach station to earls court rd cheaply at 9pm?
Asked by Suzie - Sun Nov 4 12:33:13 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you are travelling into Victoria Coach Station on National Express you can book a through ticket to Earls Court. Changing at Victoria Coach Station the 403 service leaves daily at 8.30pm (final destination Bath) and stops at the Warwick Road coach stop in Earls Court at 8.40pm. Earls Court Road runs parallel to Warwick Road and is just a short couple of minutes walk through Earls Court Gardens - which is a residential street and not a park. Alternatively, yes you can walk down to Victoria tube station (a 5 minute walk) and take the District Line westbound for Earls Court. Single tube fare is 4. (Less if you have an Oyster card). Be aware: there are TWO exits at Earls Court tube station..one for Earls Court Road (where the shops are)… [cont.]

When does the case about Victoria Lindsay & the Cheerleaders go to court?
Q. I have a question. Does anyone know when the case concerning Victoria Lindsay & the eight cheerleaders will go to court (trial)? I was wondering about it, because the whole incident seems to have died out a little. I do hope that the eight cheerleaders will get exactly what they deserve. Also, I (& I'm sure many of you have) heard of Victoria's lifestyle, etc. That should have absolutely nothing to do with the case. Her lifestyle will further Victimize & humiliate her if it gets exposed (& I hope that it doesn't). For those of you who say that she's not innocent because of her lifestyle, like her problems with her parents, I think that you should tend your own business. That has absolutely nothing to do with what she suffered. What those… [cont.]

A. I have been wondering this as well. If you find out, please email me and let me know. I have been following this since day 1. Just to let you know, it was 6 girls inside and 2 boys outside. Only 4 of the girls hit her. 1 girl (Brittini Hardcastle) was the main one (in the pink pants). You can see Victorias 13 page statement after the attack here:

What are likely punishments for harassment in Victoria, Australia?
Q. A friend of mine is accused of harassing another employee in his workplace. He had an valuable item stolen from him while at work and was pursuing a likely suspect, and it is believed he became quite aggressive. If the case does go to court, what can happen? And would this be a civil or criminal matter? Problem solved. Not a problem :)
Asked by Jono - Tue Feb 17 22:25:07 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is only Criminal if your friend has been charged with a Criminal Offence by the Victorian Police. It is unlikely it will go to court as a civil matter. The employer may well be able to sack him depending on how serious his aggression was. If you could provide some more details that would help. Has he been charged? Is the victim suing him? Is the employer taking internal action against him? By the way only the Police can issue charges in Australia. A victim can not press charges as we see in American TV shows.

Is Victoria Azarenka the next Maria Sharapova?
Q. They are both tall blonde with aggressive strokes which move their opponents around the court. Azarenka also grunt like Sharapova.
Asked by julian6789 - Sun Jan 25 05:30:58 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Surely Azarenka doesnt grunt as much as Sharapova, lol. You are right. She could be the next Sharapova. But Sharapova is nothing too special. Yes she won a couple of Grand Slams but I believe Victoria can be better than her. She has a lot of talent & promise. Most importantly she has the attitude of a very aggresive player. She has the ability to dictate terms like Sharapova when on a roll. Hope to see more of her in future.

What is the closest to Leicester Square London?
Q. We are going to the theatre in September and thinking of staying in a easy hotel for two nights to make it a mini break. What is the closest to Leicester Square -Victoria, Paddington, Earls Court or South Kensington. Thanks for yor answers
Asked by Sara - Sun Jul 27 19:49:36 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Victoria. Its also on a good tube line, the Victoria Line and only 3 stops from Leicester Square (with one change)- less than 5 min tube trip. Paddington and Earls Court are at the mercy of the District Line which is one of the oldest and notoriously slow and rubbish. Paddington is miles away Defo Victoria, its nearer in a cab too, and really easy to go anywhere from there. Kensington is a nice area, but if I was choosing between South Ken and Kensington High st, High st is nicer with good shopping, (but expensive to stay) Enjoy your time in London! TUBE map:

Does anxiety cause hemorrhoids? I don't understand this about the Victoria Osteen case and Brown's lawsuit!
Q. According to court documents, Brown claims that she suffers from anxiety and hemorrhoids because of the incident involving Victoria Osteen and said her faith was affected. She is also suing Victoria Osteen for medical expenses for counseling.
Asked by Reserved - Fri Aug 8 11:17:09 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I will have to agree with the flight attendant on this one, Mrs. Osteen is a public figure of all things Christianity and its her duty to act christian like not only on television in front of hundreds of people but other places and situations also. What kind of person preaches one day and assaults someone the next...I hope the flight attendant wins and gets everything she asks for. I used to read the Osteens web page all the time, and watch him on television often but I wont anymore, if she was a true christian she wouldn't have behaved like that over a spill.

Statute of limitation victoria au. [criminal]?
Q. I have been charged with "Intentionally causing serious injury" in 97in victoria, I never appeared in court and I moved to qld with a warrant hanging over me, how long before the charge expires and it's safe to go back?
Asked by Thomas Anders - Thu Jan 25 19:41:50 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A warrant of arrest issued by the court against you for not appearing in court on the date of the hearing of the criminal charge filed against you, never expires. So, if you return to Victoria, the police authorities can legally put you in their custody on the basis of that warrant of arrest.

How long would it take to evict this tenant ?
Q. He has been renting a room in my house for last 20 months. There is no any written nor verbal Lease Agreement. There is no Real Estate agent involved. No bond either. I gave him 5 months written notice to vacate. He still has not moved out because he has no money. Can the Police throw him out? Or do I have to go to a Court to seek an Eviction Order? A. You need the advice of legal counsel in your area of Australia. State and Federal Laws here in the US don't apply and maybe quite different from yours.

A. These teens need to be made an example of. They need to do time. If they get off on just probation it will do nothing to prevent this from happening again. I doubt that any of them will get life, which I believe is a result of the kidnapping charge. but if they get even a year, it could send a message to others.
