Q. I am in 7th grade and i am tutoring a sixth grader in Reading and Writing! He tends to slack off and not pay attention, he also needs constant help on the reading/writing activity's! Since we are in 3rd quarter now, were starting new stuff in reading/writing! What are some activity's should i do to help this kid!? Any tips?

A. Make the subject matter interesting, and have it fun. Very hard to give specifics, as I don't know his interests or his levels but... Writing example: You could start a story with a few sentences, and then give him the paper where he would write no less than 3, but no more than 5 sentences, andf then he would give the paper back to you (This could be something He could do between tutring sessions if he takes too long.) Reading example: You could read a dialogue/script of a cool movie that is somewhat current, so you guys can each take turns. This way you could model for him and show him how much fun it is.
