An airport is a location where aircraft such as aeroplanes, helicopters, and blimps take off and land. Aircraft may also be stored or maintained at an airport. An airport consists of at least one surface such as a runway, a helipad, or water for takeoffs and landings, and can often includes buildings such as hangars and terminal buildings.

Larger airports may have fixed base operator services, seaplane docks and ramps, air traffic control, passenger facilities such as restaurants and lounges, and emergency services. A military airport is known as an airbase or air station. The terms airfield, airstrip, and aerodrome may also be used to refer to airports, and the terms heliport, seaplane base, and STOLport refer to airports dedicated exclusively to helicopters, seaplanes, or short takeoff and landing aircraft. In some jurisdictions, the term airport is used where the facility is licensed as such by the relevant government organization (e.g. the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transport Canada). Elsewhere the distinction is merely one of general appearance. Yet other areas define an airport by its having the necessary customs offices etc expected of a port, though the more general term is airport of entry.

Which airport should you fly into if you are visiting Texas to see the Dallas Cowboys play?
Q. I've got tickets to see the 49ers play the Cowboys on Nov. 23, 2008 and I'm flying into Texas from NJ. Everytime I look up flight information there are 2 airports listed when I search for Dallas, DFW and Love Field (or something to that effect). Which airport should I fly into?
Asked by mehdearez - Mon May 5 11:58:38 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Either one. It depends on where you are staying. DFW is closer to the field, but it's a big and very busy airport. Whereas, Dallas Love Field is smaller and easier to get into and out of. Southwest Airlines is the main airline out of Love Field with the occasional flights by American and Continental. DFW is an international airport, so all big carriers fly there.

Airport Security- How many information appears on the screen of the person who is buying the tickets?
Q. Like for exemple : When a person buys a ticket and have to show his ID to check the name on the ticket , what information appears on the computer besides the name? like age, gender, nationality, or whatelse ?etc... how is that an airport caught criminals and terrorists?
Asked by mimimimi - Sun Nov 25 18:22:28 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Not so much. Only the address information you have supplied during ticket purchase will appear. Another big thing is your behavior -- do not be in "try to hide something mode" or something like that.

In an Airport, where would the Aircrafts park if all the parking gates are full?
Q. If all the gates are full, for example gate one to seventeen are all full, would the aircrafts go to any nearest airport or do they have to do something?
Asked by Kool AzN - Mon Jul 16 15:36:24 2007 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If they are anticipating a short delay, the airplane will wait for the gate to be opened up... otherwise, the airplane will go over to a "remote parking" area where the pilots can park the airplane *close* to where they want it (without the help of a marshaller) and the passengers will be taken to the airport via shuttle busses, or somthing similar...
