A. Note that you can store almond paste indefinitely in the refrigerator. If the paste gets too hard you can heat it gently to soften it again. Almond Drop Cookies 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened 1/2 cup Almond Paste 1 cup granulated sugar 3 ounces (1 package) cream cheese, softened 1 large egg 1 teaspoon almond extract 2 cups all purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt Optional, Glace cherries, 48 halves or cup chopped Preheat oven to 375 and line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Cream together the butter, almond paste, sugar and cream cheese. Add the egg and almond extract and mix well. Beat in the flour, baking powder, and salt. This will be a firm consistency dough. difference between almond paste and almond butter?
Q. anybody know the what is the difference between almond paste and almond butter... do you have a website to reference thanx will it make a huge difference when cooking the recipe says paste but i have the almond butter already. are there adjustments to make in the measuring?

A. I am a former chef and while they have surrounded it, almond paste or marzipan is a ground almonds with sugar and made into a "paste" and can be molded into fruits used as a cake filling in cookies and pastries as a base or flavour. Almond butter is from roasted almond and crushed like peanut butter, it is actually better for you, less fat and more omega 3-6, almond paste is made from unroasted skinless almonds.

How exactly do you make almond paste?
Q. I found a web site that gives you receipes for natural skin care and it says to blanch and grind a couple of almonds to make a paste of them. I boiled a few almonds for a few minutes but it didn't really work to make a paste after i put them into the grinder. Anybody know how to make paste?
Asked by tklorx8 - Thu Jul 31 19:59:25 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Boil them longer, you'll get more oil out of them. Then, use a blender or a food processor, they'll do a quicker job, and much cleaner. Blend for a while, then once it gets clumpy, slowly add a little bit of peanut or some other oil, just till it makes the paste you desire.

Q. Is almond paste the same as almond filling found at the grocery store in the baking aisle?
Asked by ibirish55 - Thu Sep 21 21:10:17 2006 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No, almond paste is not the same although the bakery filling might contain almond paste. Almond filling contains more eggs or butter. Almond paste is very similar to marzipan paste but marzipan contains more sugar. You might have to go to a specialty grocery store or you could make your own. Here is my recipe: almond paste - 1 1/2 cups whole blanched almonds 1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar, sifted 1 egg white (I'd probably use Just Whites powder for safety) 1 t. almond extract 1/4 t. salt Grind the almonds, a portion at a time, in an electric blender or food chopper, using the fine blade . Combine with sugar, egg white, extract and salt. Work to a stiff paste. Refrigerate or freeze in and airtight container or plastic bag.

Does anyone know where I can buy unsweetened almond paste? Mail order is fine! ?
Q. My aunt has a recipe for pignola cookies which calls for the unsweetened type of almond paste. I cannot find it in my area & don't have any gourmet shops close by. Hopefully one of you can locate it for me at a store that ships or through a catalog. They are for my dad who loves them. It is a special, once-a-year splurge for him to enjoy as well as one of the few things his little sister can do for her big brother. LOL, they are both in their 70's...but holding up quite well!
