Anatomy (from the Greek ἀνατομία anatomia, from ἀνατέμνειν ana: separate, apart from, and temnein, to cut up, cut open) is a branch of biology and Medicine which studies primarily the internal structure and design of the structure of living things. It is a general term that includes human anatomy, animal anatomy (zootomy) and plant anatomy (phytotomy). Anatomy is divided into various sub specialties in some of its facets anatomy is closely related to Embryology, Histology, comparative anatomy and comparative embryology, through common roots in evolution.

Anatomy is subdivided into gross anatomy (or macroscopic anatomy) and microscopic anatomy. Gross anatomy (also called topographical anatomy, regional anatomy, or anthropotomy) is the study of anatomical structures that can be seen by unaided vision with the naked eye. Microscopic anatomy is the study of minute anatomical structures assisted with microscopes, which includes histology (the study of the organization of tissues), and cytology (the study of cells).

The history of anatomy has been characterized, over time, by a continually developing understanding of the functions of organs and structures in the body including the clinical understanding of how damage to these structures effects other functions in the body. Methods have also advanced dramatically, advancing from examination of animals through dissection of cadavers (dead human bodies) to technologically complex techniques developed in the 20th century including X-ray technology, Sonogram and MRI technology.

Anatomy should not be confused with anatomical pathology (also called morbid anatomy or histopathology), which is the study of the gross and microscopic appearances of diseased organs.

A. I know of a site that teaches you how to draw the body. It teaches you how to draw a bunch of other stuff, too. It's free and you don't have to sign up or register or aything like that ! Go to the site below, you won't find it in search, just type or copy and paste it into your address box.

What will I learn in my Anatomy and Physiology class will actually be used in my nursing career?
Q. I know this may seem like a dumb question but I know that some things have more importance than others when it comes to the nursing scope of practice. So I am asking what will I learn in Anatomy and Physiology particularly that I will need to actually remember for my career. Because no one can remember everything. Also what will I need to remember for nursing school in general and my career once I become a nurse.

A. You won't remember every single thing for the duration of your career as a nurse. But it is all important to have an understanding of, to provide a foundation of knowledge to draw from. Years from now you will find you encounter something in your practice that you never thought you'd use but you'll be surprised that you still remember it. Don't stress out about it. Just get through your course, pass your tests and you will remember what you need to remember, and as a nurse you will always be refreshing your knowledge and continuing to learn.

What is the best way to study anatomy?
Q. Did anyone else have to struggle with anatomy? I studied all the time until midnight some days. I still made a D- now I gotta take it again. What's fuuny is my lab buddy hardly studied and passed. So, what is the best way to study anatomy?

A. Your lab buddy is damn good observer and has got good memory. Regarding your study list out the easy chapters first write down the points that are important .So that at exam time it is easy to go through the chapter fast.Later attempt the harder ones same way and i think at least you should get good marks this way.
