A. www.train.army.mil he'll log in with his ako name and password. click on my courses, then click on my course home. scroll through till you see something that sparks your interest then click on the yellow incon on the right side. enter the info needed and within an hour it will be under the my active enrollments. download the manual onto your computer or he can just open it and read it. there are thousands of courses and sub courses to choose from. just remember you max at 1000 hours, which will give you 200 promotion points. i maxed out in 11 months. i was deployed and got it all done. im sure he'll be able to as well.

A. They take forever to do mind you I retired from personnel in 96 but there were worth 1 for every 5 points. So you had to do a million to get anywhere. When you get to correspondence course go directly to the test find the answer and go to the next do not read the entire book waste of time keep in and you can always go back.if your really interested in the subject. Ensure that you make copies of completed sub-course as they seem to get lost going to personnel (I worked there mine never made it) and when you get your total course completion also take that in. Take some of the easier ones first to start building. The go to the ones that has 200 or more they add up just keep doing them (Anyone can do them if the topic right like Pharmacy Asst) [cont.]

A. First, I am assuming you are looking to get points for the NCO promotion board, good luck by the way. Now there are two things I will cover, the first is actually a little faster to get promo points than correspondence courses, and the second is actually on correspondence course points. If your going to the board, I suggest you go to your local ed center and take as many CLEP, DSST, & ECE Exams that you can. They are actually alot simpler and twice as fast as completely correspondence courses, and they count for actual college credits. These will give you points under the Civilian Education portion of your points detail. Second, I would advise not to cheat on getting points by correspondence course, it would disqualify you from your… [cont.]

A. When it says you are exempt from a course from a class it means you took that same course in another class already. Usually they don't give you credit for the same course twice.

A. There is a training NCO in your unit. Talk to that person. Assuming you are in the service-anyone who is would know that answer-anyone who doesn't should not be allowed to handle weapons, sharp objects, or drink out of anything that does not have a sippy lid

Army Correspondence Courses?
Q. I'm having trouble finding infantry classes on the army correspondence website. All the classes I've done in the past don't exist anymore. Can anyone help? Update...All the IN subcourses are missing.
Asked by msj.1_78 - Fri Apr 11 11:31:11 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. That is kinda weird. I just logged on to the site, and I found the 11B BNCOC Course, but all the IN subcourses that used to be there aren't anymore. Just the ones in the BNCOC Course. Some of the IS subcourses are Infantry-ish . Maybe they are revamping the site or subcourses. https://atiam.train.army. mil/

A. Not only are you allowed to take them, your chain of command should be encouraging you to take them. You can access information on AKO under the "My Education" tab. Talk to your supervisor about what courses might be good for your professional development.

A. I have seen my husband take many of these courses. You just sign up for some of them, then you go to one and read all of the information they give you and when you finish they have a test you can take to see if you read it and paid attention to it. As long as you have a certain grade then you will be considered passed on that course and get the credit points for it.

A. Come on now you want to be a NCO and can't even put the effort in to earn it? A good place to get the answers would be the course materials that come with the online course. Also E-5 is a pay grade, I would hope you want to be a sergeant and aren't just in it for the money!

About Army correspondence courses? college courses?
Q. I just started doing correspondence courses 2 weeks ago. Do you get certificates whenever you finish a course? If so, where could I find them? Does it go automatically into your record? Another question, I've got some college from another country and I'm going to get it credited by some institution that does it. How do I get it into my record?
Asked by mikcute - Tue Feb 17 14:33:55 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can take the completion over to the education office and they will add it to your record. But always look first to see that the class is accredited and will transfer. Many many people spend time and money on useless courses. Go to or call the education office and ask to speak to an advisor. An appt with them. Then you can sit down and plan your course of study. They can also help you with how to transfer credits.
