What is Social Assistance and how does it work?
Q. I am seeking means to attend college and was told that if I live on my own I can apply for social assistance. I live in Alberta Canada. I am curious as to what it is, how it works and where to get more information on it. I do not want to be on welfare and will work withot attending school if thats what it is, so if social assistance is anything like welfare thank you anyways for the answers.

A. Here's a site: By the way, if you need it to help you get through school, there is no guilt in that. If you are diligent in school, you will soon afterwards find a job and move off the system. Sometimes the word welfare has a stigma to it, which comes about because some people get on it and never leave. You don't sound like that type of person. Although I'm in the states, I needed some financial help for a time, so I used the program that is there for just that purpose. I graduated, got a job, and no longer am on that system. If you don't abuse the system, again, there is no guilt in taking a few years benefits from it - that's what ideally it is there for in the first place - to help people get into the work force.

Where can I get assistance for vet bills?
Q. My cat needs to see a vet because of a car accident. I posted a question earlier, and I forgive everyone who was nasty because they don't understand that I stay at home with 3 children, two have disabilities and we are receiving assistance because we are poor, even though my husband has a full-time job. So where can I get assistance with vet bills? My last resort is to surrender him to the SPCA, but we love this cat. BTW, my kids have Medicaid, so they go to the hospital when they are ill, and we are there a lot because of problems. Don't judge. I cannot borrow money because I have 2 student loans, a car loan, borrowed money for my roof this year that HAD to get done, and put my kid's co-payments for a few things this month on credit cards. A. Obviously what some of these people don't see is that you are trying to help your cat. Don't pay attention to those people!!! Sometimes the only options are not what you want, believe me I know, but they are best for the cat! I agree with most of these answers, don't give up and try every option. Don't let baby suffer though!! I am from Utah and, there is a place in Kanab, Utah I know rescues animals but, I don't know if they can help you cause I don't know where you are. I do know they rescue animals all over the world. They are called Best Friends Animal Sancuary, you can actually find them on the Internet. God Bless your baby and your family!!!

What financial assistance can I get for college courses if I already have a Bachelor's Degree?
Q. I can only attend one course at a time and am being told that I am ineligible for loans since I am less than half time. There must be some assistance program out there for someone in my situation.
