Why are banks not doing more to help home owners in distress?
Q. I hear constantly about people walking away from thier mortgages because they can't afford the payment even after trying to resolve it with the banks. In many of these stories the banks would not return thier calls or treat them very rude as if they don't want to bother with them. I don't understand why banks are not doing more to help home owners. Clearly another forclosure is the last thing they want. Anybody get this?

A. The owners of these mortgages were greedy. I always hear about how the banks and predatory lenders preyed on victims, but this is hogwash. They did not hold guns to peoples heads to make them sign mortgages that people couldn't afford. If you are not comfortable or don't understand a contract that you are signing, it is your duty to get knowledge and understand. What is wrong with this country that we cannot take personal responsibility and have to blame all our woes on someone else.
