Has there been a case of parents lying to their biological child?
Q. This is just an odd question. I know that some parents lie to their adoptive children saying that they're their biological parents. Now has there been a case when parents lied to their biological child that he or she is adopted, while the truth is they're all biological? Maybe they're ashamed of having this child and they lie to him or her? I don't know, I'm just wondering about this.

A. Anything is possible, I suppose. Given the things some abusive parents say to their kids, who knows. I did know a girl in college who was raised thinking her grandmother was really her mother. Her "sister" turned out to be her mother - basically the mother had a baby young and the family raised it like another sibling, rather than a grandchild, if that makes sense. She only found out when we were in our 20s.

What is the best way for an adopted child to find their biological parents?
Q. I'm looking for an inexpensive resource to help me find biological parents for adopted children. Any ideas?

A. In times past it was next to impossible for an adopted child to find their biological parents unless the parents who adopted them gave them good relevant information to do so. Thankfully, because of Internet databases, those days are over. Now, even if all you have is a first name you can find out a pluthera of information very inexpensively. Of course, the more information you can provide (like a state or last name) the better your odds of finding the person you are looking for. Here's a cool article that goes into depth with this whole process. ===>

how does one start to look for their biological parents?
Q. i was adopted at three weeks old. the birth certificate i have has my adopted parents names on it. the adoption agency has closed. this was almost 36 years ago when they gave very little info about the biologicals to the adoptives. please help. no court was involved. bio mom direct to adoption agency. also i'm NOT selfish or ungrateful. it is important for me and my son to know what kind of medical history our parents/grandparents have. i dearly love my adoptive parents and am VERY grateful to them for giving me a chance at this crazy thing we call life.

A. First I want to say congratulations, second, ignore the idiot saying that you are ungrateful, I was not ungrateful for my parents and finding my Biological mother was one of the best things that happened to me. There are about a million adoption reunion sites online. Although if this was 36 years ago, your biological parents may not be internet savy, but its a good place to start. There is an adoption registry in most states. I don't know what state you are in but I have included the registry for New York, you may have to look up whatever state you are in. This is a good place to start because, at least in New York, if both parties are registered they can then release the information about identification and whereabouts. There is… [cont.]
