How does a "Nail buffer" work ? I mean, does it put a waterproof layer on the nail, just like nail polish?
Q. How does the nail get the shine from the buffer? Is there a coat of paint like transparent nail color?

A. A nail buffer is like fine sand paper . you rub it on your nails and it gets rid of all the ridges . most buffers have four sides. the first side of the block is to shape your nail basicly a nail file. the second side is to get rid of the ridges on your nail , you rub this side on your nails until the ridges have gone , the third side smooths your nails , it gets rid of all the scratches and becomes very smoorth and the last side is lyk a rubbery side that pollishes your nails and you get really shiny results . with a good block buffer your nail look as if you have used a clear shiny top coat when you havent .However on of the downsides is that this doesnt usually last very lond because your nails get scratched very quickly and they become… [cont.]

A. I think it has something to do with what is a strong acid and a strong base. Strong acids and bases dissociate completely and therefore change pH drastically. However, weak acids and bases only dissociate slightly and can "buffer" change in pH. I know for sure HCl is a strong acid. So, maybe by deducing that b and c aren't strong acids or bases, you can guess that because they don't dissociate completely, mixed together, they prevent a change in the pH of a solution. Hope that helps. Good luck on your final. Gotta love chem...

Is there such a thing as a tiny rotary buffer for finishing paint to a mirror finish?
Q. I want to paint and polish wooden boxes to a japanese laquer like finish. Where can I find a tiny rotary buffer online and what type would be good?

A. You could get a Dremel tool and put a buffer tip on it. If something slightly larger is desired then use a 3/8" electric drill with a similiar buffer wheel in the chuck.
