A. If it is a hired vehicle, I'm sure the rates have already been agreed on. An additional gratuity to the driver would be most appreciated. I suggest between 350-500php. If it's a friend or a relative and no payment has been pre-set, then you must insist on paying for the gas (full-tank) and at least buy the guy dinner. If you can persuade him to accept payment, I suggest 1200php (that's like $25, the average car rental here in the USA). If it is refused, then you must buy him something special for Christmas. Welcome to the Philippines. Enjoy the holidays!

A. There is a train that traverse thru laguna to manila. I lived in a subdivision in calamba, cabuyao boundary and just a 2mins. walk away from the train stop. I just rode it once, at 7-8 am bound to manila. Its relatively faster & cheaper than the bus, I cant say about comfort, there was not a lot of people rode that early so it wasn't crowded but the seats was hilarious, i was literally bouncing the whole journey. There really isn't a scenic view but only clustered of squatters houses along the side of the train and you can actually touch the roofs. There was a collector on the train and so you can pay on board. Its also very confusing since the route or stop doesnt have any name on it, so there is a great risk or possibility of getting… [cont.]

( that branch is open to everyone ) If ever you do go there, ask for their newest Villa Josefina. Villa Josefina is a hot spring resort. But the one we stayed in was not too hot. not too cold. just perfect :) The one we got was private. There was videoke and you can ask for that thing where u cook barbeque.
