How bad is California budget crisis for UC's and CSU's?
Q. how will student be able to pay for their college education when it is so expensive, especially when we are going through a bad time financially? aren't classes being taken away? less student getting in?
Asked by Nikki la fea - Tue Oct 20 16:21:19 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I can't speak to how the CSU system is responding to the crisis, but I can provide some information about the UCs. Overall, the UCs are raising fees and reducing freshman enrollment. But each UC campus has discretion on how it deals with the budget shortfall. Berkeley has announced that some majors will lose courses. Other UCs, such as Riverside and Santa Barbara, have confirmed they are cutting back on student services. Things will be tough for a while, so explore all the different possibilities available to you (apply to private colleges where more funds are available) and do the best you can.
