A. If you're in a chemistry class, a chart of polyatomic ions should be in your book, or a handout given by the teacher. The thing to do is look up the names of the ions in the chart, and best is to memorize them. Then balance their charges with the charges of the other ions, which are mainly metals in your list above. There are rules that indicate what the metallic ions' charges are--for instance, in the group #1, their charges will be +1. Hope this helps you learn at least a bit on how to do these. Feel free to reply if you need more advice on how to do these.

Chemistry Question--->nomenclatu re help :)?
Q. 1)napthalene does not dissolve in water, and melts at 85 degrees celcius, what category of compound is it? a)ionic b)polar covalent c)non-polar covalent d)physical e)analytical well i think i cant be ionic cuz ionic compound has a high melting and boiling point. i dunno abt the rest.. and i know covalent has low melting and boiling point... 2)Which chemical would be the best substance to eat for someone with too much sodium in their diet? (consider just the formulas) a)sodium phosphate b)sodium carbonate c)sodium sulfate d)sodium chloride e)sodium oxide i dun get why if u eat too much sodium, then why all of the answer have sodium in it? 3)how many total electrons are present in 1 molecule of carbon tetraflouride a)6 b)9 c)46 d)42 e)im [cont.]

A. 1c non-polar does not dissolve in water 2 I do not get it too, maybe the answer in anion? carbonate is the safest 3 you are correct 4 silver (I) iodate, you can omit (I) and call it simply silver iodate 5 liquid or not does not matter for naming, so your name is correct 6. again, what chromium (I) or (III)? hypo means the least oxidation state for oxigen containg acid, so it is OI- I would say Cr(OI)3 cuz i do not think CrOI is stable
