Does a black tv armoire look okay with dark brown colored end tables and coffee table?
Q. I bought some chocolate colored end tables and a coffee table from pottery barn. They are gorgeous!! But I can't find an entertainment center that matches that isn't a billion dollars!! The only afffordable nice looking entertainment center I could find was a black armoire. It's really pretty but would the black armoire clash with all brown furniture in the room? I have black picture frames hanging up but I just don't know.

A. Black furniture goes well with just about everything. It can be both grounding or dramatic. I personally think it's a more creative approach to mix more than one style and/or color to your scheme. It feels more like personal expression and less like a catalog. Like someone else said - the key is tying them together... and you already have a start by having the black picture frames. Maybe try a small accent piece on top of your armoire ( a planter, a bowl, an art piece ) in the same color as your chocolate tables - that way the wood pieces in your room will have a theme. Adding a black wooden magazine rack (or another small black item) across the room from the armoire will also help tie it altogether. good luck - I'm sure your your space… [cont.]

Could I make a decent living on selling handcrafted coffee tables?
Q. One of a few ideas I have for a career option is to start a small furniture company that specializes in coffee tables. I would have a specific design with a few custom features. Could I make a decent living off of this? How could I get at least 4 tables sold a month. I know I would be limiting myself with only offering coffee tables, but if I could make beautiful models, could that be enough for customers to order a piece from me?

A. No, you need a more diverse line of products. Coffee tables will not help you make a living...at selling 4 a month...you would have to sell them for what --- a $1000 each. Not very realistic.

A. I have a cream living room with brown furniture and brown leather sofas and I love it! I have a feature wall using a much lighter brown so the room doesn't look too dark, and cream carpets (although they are hard to keep clean) and a really rich, dark brown rug.
