How do I have command prompt write the results of a ping to text file?
Q. I have a batch file that pings a certain server a set amount of times then closes the command prompt. How do I have it write the ping statistics such as max/min response times, packet losses, and so on? Thanks.

What was the most difficult trick/command to train your dog to do?
Q. And, did you eventually succeed? I had real problems training my doberman to lie down, even now she wont stay down. She will stay, sit and all the others, but she just wont lie down on command. I have been trying for 4 years, but she still wont get the hint. Do any of you have a similar quirk in your pet, and how did you tackle it?

A. Luke thought "roll over" was incredibly confusing. It appeared to him that "roll over" meant "lie down, stick my legs in the air, and momma flips me over"... it was VERY challenging. Eventually, he figured it out though... mostly by putting the ever delightful ball on the other side of his "down" after several manual flips, so he knew that the flip was something we wanted, and the ball was something HE wanted, and it worked eventually. As for down... I suggest starting from a standing position. Arm yourself with a treat tidbit. With your palm facing the floor, hold the treat with your thumb. All four fingers should be parallel with the floor, and your palm down. Raise your wrist, still with the treat, (like you'd be signalling… [cont.]

How difficult is it to get command sponsorship to Korea?
Q. My husband is an E-7 in the Army and recently found out that he's getting stationed to Korea this February. I've heard from other wives and other soldiers that it's difficult to get command sponsorship to Korea. On the other hand, I know that there's military family housing on Osan and Camp Humphrey. My husband has been deployed for almost a year not too long ago and I don't want my husband to be separated from us for another year. He wants my son and I to come with him but I hear that there's a huge chance that it might not happen. Can someone confirm this information?

A. I was in Seoul Korea for a year in 2002, and then the theater policy (set by USFK) for command sponsorship was E-7 and above was a sure thing and it COULD be made available to E-6s/E-5s after that. Not sure if that is still valid but I would bet it probably is... Check the website for his new unit, and email their POC... either his sponsor, or SGTMAJ, or ombudsman, or Personnel Support Branch... I did my tour unaccompanied, but I ran the Command Sponsorship program for the Joint Command I was assigned to.

Is there any alternate way to use command prompts if they are blocked?
Q. I want to use command prompts at school, but when i try and use them it says the administrator has blocked them. I tried using regedit to unblock it but that is blocked too. Is there anything i can do?

A. If you restart the pc and go into Bios you can change where the pc looks for OS first ie from hard drive first or cd rom/floppy first. Get a Windows 98 bootdisk and change bios to floppy/cd rom whichever type of bootdisk you may have then after you book from cd rom/floppy you can access the system without windows loading. Unless you can snag a password from an Admin your out of luck any other way. Plus you have to do all of this without anyone noticing you.

How to train a dog to speak on command?
Q. I'm having trouble maintaining control. When i give him the command to speak he begins to bark nonstop and begins to get a little aggressive. He is a 9week old German Shepherd puppy.
Asked by KerryK - Sat Apr 14 14:29:57 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Teach him "quiet". To do this when he is barking say "quiet' and when he is quiet - just for a second or two - quickly give him a treat. Keep doing it until gradually he will stop barking food good on command. I doubt your 9 week old puppy is seriously being 'aggressive' unless he has a neurological disorder. He is probably being excited by you telling him to bark and going overboard, nipping and growling, jumping around. Maybe you should wait until he is a few months old to do trick training, when his attention span is longer.

How do you train a cat to meow on command?

A. Speak to it in cat language - not human language. Cats do not "meow" to each other. It is a confusing word to them. "Ow" is a distinct warning. "Me" is a plea for attention. To put both of them together is extremely confusing, and if you start to pay particular attention to this, you will notice that it is only humans who say this to cats, and it is only humans that cats say it to. Kittens do not say "meow," they say "mei" as in "may." Drag out the final vowel. This encourages friendship not only with your cats but all cats. It is quite easy to provoke a response of friendship out of even cats with street attitude when addressing them with "mei." And being that it is an international language, it works worldwide. A. Get a clicker. Next time your dog barks, click and then give him a treat. He'll be looking for his next treat, but only give it to him when it barks. After a while, he'll understand that barking, then clicking, leads to a treat. Always click, then treat. After several tries, label it "bark." Say, "bark" as you click - treat.

Q. What is the command to remove active directory?
Asked by Moonspecks2006 - Mon Feb 18 20:50:48 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You use the same command you used to make a server a domain controller, DCPROMO. Now, before you remove Active Directory from a server, you need to transfer any FSMO roles that it might have, assuming you are keeping the rest of active directory. If this is the only domain controller, and the existing active directory is just going to go away, then just run DCPROMO and follow the prompts.

How can i edit command prompt properties through command prompt?
Q. I want to edit the properties of the window size of the command prompt window, but i want to do it using commands through command prompt itself. Please help
Asked by weord8 - Mon Dec 1 15:49:01 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The properties of the command prompt window are not attributes of the command prompt program itself, but rather of its .pif file stored on disk. Such files are created by Windows, not DOS. See if you can use pifedit.exe (if indeed that program still exists in Windows), otherwise I think you're out of luck. (Note that the command prompt window can't resize itself, the changes couldn't become effective until the next time you ran the program.)

Q. What makes this command so valuable to you?
Asked by Herding Dogs Rule! - Fri Jan 11 11:25:03 2008 - - 22 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Down. And when I say "down" I mean that the sky could be falling and my dog would lay down. I say this is the most valuable because my dogs leash broke one day by our lake and he took off after a duck and a car was coming... I yelled "down" and he hit the ground inches away from the car. It saved his life. Now I teach all my dogs instant down. We make games out of it and they think it's really fun to see how fast they can lay down when they are running or playing in our fence.

A. On merchant vessels the captain is the ranking licensed officer. This is followed by the chief mate, second, and third mate in the deck department and paralleled by the chief engineer first, second, and third engineer on the engine side. Unlicensed chain of command is Bosun, able body seaman, and ordinary seaman. QMED s, Fireman and wipers round out the engine unlicensed. Hope this helps.
