How does earning commission affect what you can get for a mortgage?
Q. Lets say I made a basic of 15,000 per annum but with commission it was more like 30,000. How much of a mortgage could I get? I know its roughly 4 times your salary but would this change due to the commission?
Asked by Craig S - Fri Apr 4 12:50:36 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No, but you do have to be working the commission job for 2 years before you get the loan based on the 30,000 otherwise they will go off your base pay of 15,000.

How does a commission split work for real estate licensees who have to pay a monthly fee.?
Q. I understand with Remax, that all licensees pay a monthly fee. The commission splits can be 80/20, 75/25 and 94/6. Does this mean that the broker gets 80 and the licensee gets 20, and is the monthly fee the same for everybody, or do some pay more? What determines your monthly fee, and then how does that effect the commission split?
Asked by Dani - Sat Mar 21 02:45:11 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think it's the other way around. The agent gets the higher percentage, and the broker gets the lower. The monthly fee is meant to cover certain overhead expenses: - desk / office - supplies / forms - insurance

What is an appropriate commission for a dual agent?
Q. I am getting ready to list my house and sign an agreement with an agent. Of course I know that the typical commission is 6% to be split with my agent and the buyer's agent. However, if my agent already has one of her own clients in mind, I feel that I should get a discount because she doesn't have to do as much work.
Asked by Justina - Wed Dec 6 15:39:50 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is common to negotiate as low as 4% total on a dual agency deal like that in a sellers market and agents are more hungry and willing to negotiate. However, in the current market whoever has the buyer holds the cards. Here is some additional info. Hope this helps.

What is the usual commission that Wall Street Brokers charge Hedge Funds?
Q. I would like to know what is the commission agreement between agency brokers in wall street and institutions dealing with large volumes of stocks such as Hedge Funds, Fund of Funds, Mutual Funds or Banks. Thanks!
Asked by SamyB - Mon Aug 17 06:18:35 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Depends on the size of the trades, the relationship the firm has with the firm, and what other services might be provides. Its usually a % of the trade size or cents per share. Hedge funds, banks and mutual funds all have their own arrangements based on what other services they may use (research, prime brokerage, custodian, etc..) Fund of Funds typically trade in funds and wouldn't be subject to commission agreements with wall street brokers as their is traditionally no trading fees to buy mutual funds and trades in hedge funds or private equity fund are done directly with the fund and their would be no charge for making the trade.

Commission based jobs how long does it take to get a sale?
Q. I just started a commission based job in Advertising Sales. I get alot of leads but for some reason have not had a sale. I'm the type of person that wants to see results right away but I also don't want to spend time doing something that might not be for me. Anyone else experience this before? How long does it usually take to get a sale in Advertising? Do I just need to wait it out?
Asked by khmerbabee143 - Fri Mar 28 15:19:34 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. One sales Key in Ad Sales (there are many) is... closeout dates. Most prospects will put you off since they know theres plenty of time to make a decision. For example selling yellow pages ads way too early in the publishing cycle. You need to be selling ad packages that have Closeout Dates and be selling just BEFORE those dates occur. The impending loss of the available slots can be a strong motivator for advertiser prospects to take action. In general, getting started in sales can be slow, but once you have some momentum incomes can and do rise sharply.

What is the typical real estate commission paid when the Listing brokerage is also representing the buyer?
Q. I am asking from the seller's view point, hoping the commission would be reduced.
Asked by Curious - Thu Oct 11 23:22:52 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It will be the same commission you agreed to pay, when you signed with your listing agent. The fact that this agent represents a buyer, doesn't have anything to do with commissions. Lets say you agreed to pay your agent 6%. If a buyer had his own agent, then this 6% would have been split between the two agents and it was OK with you. Now there's no other agent and you feel 6% is too much for your agent to keep, right? But your agent promised to sell your house and he did it. What difference does it make if your money goes to one agent or two? BUT, you can talk to your agent and he might agree to lower commissions. If he doesn't agree, you have to pay.

A. I think you have chosen a wrong forum to air the warning, because even if the Human Rights Commission was willing to give the warning, they are not competent to do so. Because HRC is not a warning issuing body. Although their responsibility is to protect the human rights but their powers and functions are limited. You may have contacted the meteorological department or the Home Ministry or even the police station, they may have helped you and may helped Thousands of Indians.

A. Real estate is all "local". In most if not all states in the US, fees are negotiable as well as payment structures. If you are a consumer, like purchasing any other goods or services, it may pay to shop around.

What is the average life insurance commission?
Q. I know the amount can very significantly but I am just want to know what the average commission is. I've heard anywhere from $600 to $1000. But not if one is Term or whole life.
Asked by ERIK - Sun Nov 25 23:58:23 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. First year, about 95% of the annual premium, continuing, about 5%. But, there's no average PREMIUM. So your question isn't answerable in dollars. You could sell a term policy for $100 a year, or you could sell a whole life policy for $5,000 a year, or anywhere in between.

What commission do you get for selling bicycle parts on ebay for a bike shop?
Q. If I use my reputable ebay account to sell for a local bike shop, what kind of commission should I generally expect?
Asked by Vampire Cow - Mon Sep 8 19:50:53 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The franchised eBay drop-off stores charge from 25 to 40% commission plus the ad and shipping cost. If you charged the bike shop 20% plus these costs it would be a good return for you and the shop would be paying less than it would otherwise cost them. Be sure to figure packaging cost and get the shop to provide boxes and packing materials. Also, get an understanding up front with the shop what their return policy will be. It's important that you protect your feedback and not get stuck in the middle. Good luck. Entrepreneurship is one of the things that make America grate.

How do I get my real estate commission from my old broker?
Q. I was working with another broker when a couple of my sales were done. I changed brokers during that time and thought I would get my split when the money went to the old brokerage. I saw that the sales were included in the productions list, but I still haven't received my share of the commission. I have already tried calling and asking the broker. Is there any other way I can get my split?
Asked by Thomas T - Thu Feb 12 23:14:51 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. What did your contract with the previous broker say? There is usually a time limit on commissions paid after you leave. If you left on Jan 1 and it was a 30 day clause, and the closing was on Feb 3 you aren't going to be entitled to it. If you are entitled, send a letter via Fed Ex or registered mail requesting your commission. If they still refuse to give it to you file a complaint with the real estate board in your state.

How much do massage therapists make in commission?
Q. How much do massage therapists make in commission when working with a spa? Is 50/50 the norm? For a beginner fresh out of massage school would it be less? How much experience would you need to get a higher percentage from the spa owner? I'd like answers specific to the city of Philadelphia but info about other cities would be great reference as well.
Asked by kev - Thu Jul 16 20:30:17 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. What a interesting conversation this is! I worked in Texas as a new therapist, and I worked commission only for massages and spa services, starting at 35% and going up to 55% plus tips, we charged around $75 a service. I opened my own business and I charge $60 hourly. Apparently this is not always the norm, I knew other therapists who worked at Massage envy, Spa D'sante and Massage Heights who only made $12-$15 hourly + tips. The biggest compromise is the life you want to lead. I prefer to get paid more, work less, and use my spare time to learn more about massage! Just be confident in your abilities and ask for more than you think you will get. I always got the job after a massage demo! good luck!

How does a booking agency make money to pay the agents and their commission?
Q. I know an independent agent makes their 10-15% commission from a bands gig but when you start a booking agency, how does the agency get the money to pay their agents commission they earn plus salary? Does the agent give part or all of the commission to the agency? How does that work?
Asked by lovely_lady - Wed Nov 5 00:58:20 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No money is paid out until your clients start bringing money in. As soon as the band gets $1Million advance for their new record, the agency takes $150,000 and writes a check to the band for $850,000. Out of the $150,000 the owner of the agency pays the utility bill and the rent and the agent's fee or commission. The agent herself might be getting a set fee instead of a percentage..

What is the right level of real estate commission to pay on a multimillion dollar property?
Q. I'm selling a house and I have conflicting information on what the real estate commission should be. It varies from 4-6% depending on who you ask.
Asked by Mr. Stone - Tue Mar 21 14:13:57 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Commissions have become a huge controversy recently. With the huge increases in the market, the Real Estate agent has been penalized by the overly greedy Seller. Property values have gone up, so most Sellers have had a huge earning on their investment. With that in mind, this has become the biggest investment for most people. Yet they want a bargain for their investment. Bottom line, if the Agent you are thinking of hiring can't negotiate their own commission, there is no way they will be able to negotiate the best price, or conditions, for the sale of your home. The Agent who is willing to reduce their commission is doing it out desperation more than anything else. In 14 years of business I have personally let go of a good number of… [cont.]

How much commission does a massage therapist make in Philadelphia?

Asked by kev - Thu Jul 16 20:35:05 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It all depends what type of business you intend on working for. Here in philly, most spas pay commission only with the norm at about 30%-40% for more experienced therapists. This percentage does drop to about 20% for new graduates. Usually, this rate will increase on your first anniversary depending on your job performance. In ac, the hotel spas pay more, usually about 50%. But most places in jersey require that you are either nationally certified or state certified. pa doesn't have any work requirements. If you work at the "discount" massage places like hand and stone and massage envy, they are at about 50% but their prices are lower thus meaning a lower pay per massage. but these places may be busier than a spa because they are… [cont.]
