NounNouncowboys
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A cowboy is an animal herder who tends cattle on ranches in North America, traditionally on horseback, and often performs a multitude of other ranch-related tasks. The historic American cowboy of the late 19th century became a figure of special significance and legend. A subtype, called a wrangler, specifically tends the horses used to work cattle. In addition to ranch work, some cowboys work for or participate in rodeos. Cowgirls, first defined as such in the late 19th century, had a less-well documented historical role, but in the modern world have established the ability to work at virtually identical tasks and obtained considerable respect for their achievements. There are also cattle handlers in many other parts of the world, particularly South America and Australia, who perform work similar to the cowboy in their respective nations. The cowboy has deep historic roots tracing back to Spain and the earliest settlers of the Americas. Over the centuries, differences in terrain, climate and the influence of cattle-handling traditions from multiple cultures created several distinct styles of equipment, clothing and animal handling. As the ever-practical cowboy adapted to the modern world, the cowboy's equipment and techniques also adapted to some degree, though many classic traditions are still preserved today. During the late 1800s when Western Expansion was flourishing, how long did it take cowboys to herd the cattle from let's say California to Illinois? Asked by Tyler E - Tue Mar 4 22:25:04 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. They never hearded cattle from California to Illinios. The Serrias and the Rockies would have prevented that. They only hearded cattle from the grasslands of Texas and New Mexico to the slaughter houses in St Louis, or Kansas City. They did not want their cattle to loose a ton of weight . They never would have made it they way you suggested. They would have been skin and bones if they got there at all. 4 - 6 weeks for the hearding from Texas to St Louis. Answered by elkgond1 - Mon Sep 22 12:15:20 2008 What should the Cowboys do about Bobby Carpenter?
Q. It's obvious that this hasn't worked out. Granted, Carpenter has played in 43 games but only started 2. However, as a Cowboys fan I don't know whether keeping him at linebacker is the best thing for us(to be honest, I don't know that it was a good idea to move him there in the 1st place). What do you think my fellow Cowboys fans? Asked by Christian B - Fri Apr 3 08:00:35 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. (awesome avatar, Mike!) I think this is a crucial training camp for Carpenter. From what I have heard; he will be given a chance to take Kevin Burnett's spot in the nickel defense. I also think Carpenter could end up being a solid player. With the players Dallas has had in front of him; he never really had a chance to play yet.
