Hydropower and pumped-storage hydroelectricity are often used in conjunction with dams to provide clean electricity for millions of consumers. From Wikipedia under the

What can Egypt do to help slow development in Ethiopia so that they do not build dams on the Nile? This would eluminate over 98% of Egypts fresh water supply. They have also threatened Ethiopia with war if they try to build dams. But Ethiopia is growing fast so they would like to preserve the source for the Nile. The waters of the Nile in particular the Blue Nile are still under The Nile Water Agreement which was drawn up and signed in 1929. This agreement guarantees Egypt 55.5 billion cubic metres of water out of a total 84 billion cubic metres. In 2004 Egypt refused Tanzania permission to put in a 168 kilometre pipeline to bring fresh water to villages in areas were climatic condition have lessened the rain fall. I really don't think that Egypt is going to give in to Ethiopia's request. They do not intend stopping water supply but proposed distributing in in a fairer way that will serve all effected countries better. This would mean the drawing up of another agreement. They last longer than any other geotextile i know of. It's a new design, costs less, and will save you time as well as money. What have you got to lose? Quality protection for less. Q. What is the downside to installing a gutter protection system? I am concerned about winter ice dams.? Asked by Tom M - Sat Jul 28 15:26:53 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The wire type covering keeps debris from getting into gutter causing a backup and clog. The covering does not create ice dams, lack of draining does. The covering made life easier to keep gutters clean and working properly. However above door to our side door (main used door), does have ice dam every winter (sun don't get to that side). This gutter we had to replace with a metal gutter & add a gutter heat tape for winter drainage. Answered by Carole Q - Sat Jul 28 16:16:35 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "dams" |
