NounWikipedia has an article on: Demand (desire)Wikipedia demand (plural demands)
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. In economics, demand is the desire to own anything and the ability to pay for it and willingness to pay (see also supply and demand). The term demand signifies the ability or the willingness to buy a particular commodity at a given point of time. Economists record demand on a demand schedule and plot it on a graph as a demand curve that is usually downward sloping. The downward slope reflects the relationship between price and quantity demanded: as price decreases, quantity demanded increases. In principle, each consumer has a demand curve for any product that he or she would consider buying, and the consumer's demand curve is equal to the marginal utility (benefit) curve. When the demand curves of all consumers are added up, the result is the market demand curve for that product. If there are no externalities, the market demand curve is also equal to the social utility (benefit) curve. Demand scheduleThe demand schedule shows the quantity of goods that a consumer would be willing and able to buy at specific prices under the existing circumstances. Some of the more important factors affecting demand are the price of the good, the price of related goods, tastes and preferences, income, and consumer expectations. From Wikipedia under the

To determine the demand of our services, we take the statistics of our occupancy levels for the same period of the previous year. we project the same with an assumptional increase of 5%. the advantage is that the process is simple and the disadvantage is that the entire process is done on assumptions. Answered by Adam Love - Thu Jan 4 04:13:27 2007 What is the demand for housing in the states of Australia? Q. General demand for housing in the different states and territories of of Australia. I am a student who is wondering if I were to start a company that builds houses in American style sub-divisions would there be demand enough from people to buy the houses? Where would be the best place with the most demand for housing? Would the government subsidize me if the houses were made affordable to low income families? Asked by vidgms - Wed Sep 3 18:38:12 2008 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments A. I think you've missed the boat a bit, old chap. There's plenty of multi-million dollar companies (most Australian owned) already established here who buy up large blocks of land, sub-divide, build all the curb & channelling, put in all services such as power, phones, etc & build a variety of houses on the blocks. We call them 'housing estates'. There are plenty of developers who already claim to cater for low income families. Our federal government subsidises 1st home buyers directly, not the developer. Q. When looking into a major/minor, I want to know what languages are on high demand by government law enforcement agencies. I'm assuming different dialects of Arabic and possibly Farsi or maybe Russian, but I don't really know. Some insight would be great. Thanks. Educated guess on most of these...I know Arabic is in extremely high demand and likely are any related Middle East languages of the area spoken from Iraq to Afghanistan/Pakistan. Chinese (Mandarin, etc.) is another hot one (probably even more so for big business). Fluent Spanish will continue to be in demand due to the presence of spanish speakers here and issues in Latin America. Next tier down you might find Russian...and if you know a unique language that few others will speak, that might be valuable as there are offices and operations everywhere...and we never know which country becomes the next problem.
