What is the relationship between interest rates and demand for money?
Q. A) As interest rates decrease, demand for money increases. B) As interest rates increase, demand for money increases. C) Interest rates are determined by demand for money. D) Interest rates and demand for money are unrelated. --- I am so confused. Is money supply the same thing as demand? In that case it would be B. How do you find the percent change in quantity demanded and percent change in price for elasticity of demand?
Q. I am graphing points for demand and price and I need some help with the demand elasticity part. I know is % change in quantity demanded / % change in price. However, im not sure how to get those % changes. For example: My quantity demanded is decreases from 1200 by 100 at every price. The price starts at 5 and rises by 5 each time.
Asked by Kelsea - Tue Mar 3 20:25:10 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. %change = (changed value - original value) / original value * 100 Calculating the given example, (changed quantity - original quantity) = -100 (because it decreased by 100) original quantity = 1200 So, %change of quantity = -100 / 1200 * 100 = -100/12 = -8.33% (changed price - original price) = 5 (because it increased by 5) original price = 5 So, %change of price = 5 / 5 *100 = 100% Therefore, elasticity at the point(Qd 1200, P 5) on the demand curve is -8.33 % / 100% = -0.083 And it can be said it's price inelastic at this point because IEdpl is less than 1. ps) about from point(Q=1100, P=10) to point (Q=1000, P=15), Edp = %change Q / %change P = [(1000-1100)/1100*100] / [(15-10)/10*100]

What has been your experience with on demand water heaters? Do they really work, and are they reliable?
Q. I need to replace my water heater and I am considering an on demand type. My current water heater is an electric, and while it would be easier to replace with electric, I could also replace with an on demand gas water heater. If you have had experience with the on demand type, would you want another one?

A. USA I think they are excellent. My brother used to get his hot water from the boiler for the home heating system. In the summer (when heat was not used) it used to cost him $100 per month in gas to have hot water. We put a tankless water heater, and his bill dropped to $26 per month. The water heater is a larger one - sized to supply hot water for up to 3 bathrooms simultaneously. It works great, no problems at all. An added benefit is that you can set the temperature easily, and set it by degree - for example 105 degrees, or 112, etc... not just set the heater to warm or hot. I presently have a 40 gallon standard gas water heater. I am paying to keep 40 gallons of water hot 24 hours per day. That is a waste of money and energy. … [cont.]

On demand water heater. Does it burn out if the water is turned off?
Q. All electric house. I am considering adding on demand water heaters in two places. They cost at least twice as much as a tank type. Does an on demand burn the heater elements if the water is turned off? My tank type does burn out the heater elements if the water level drops below the elements in the tank. Also, is the on demand water heater repairable or would a person have to buy a new one in case of failure?

A. good question. if your turning off the water, best to turn off the hot water heater also. all the point of use HW heaters I've worked on have a small quantity of water in them (4 oz) which stays 120 deg. as soon as there is a call for water, the cold water coming in triggers the stat to heat up the water.

What is the difference between a demand function and quantity demanded at a given price?
Q. y is it useful to know the demand function?
Asked by How To Save A Life - Wed Mar 4 17:07:34 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. there's supply and demand. simply, the more supply, the lower the price, the less supply, more scarce, higher cost. More demand, higher price (vendors take advantage of the desire to have an item and boost up the price), less demand, lower price. those are the basiccc things of economics. now, it is useful to know because you can graph this out, and where the two lines(supply & demand) intersect, is called the 'true market price'. and when demand goes higher, the intersect is raised higher up on the supply function, and the price goes up. and when demand goes lower, price drops but stays in proportion to supply. it helps to figure out a products true cost, so you don't get fooled when you think a price is good when it's actually 10$ more… [cont.]

Many colleges are doing 1 year programs to get you certified and into the classroom quickly. There also may be some online programs. Good luck!

Why is there a high demand for environmental workers in Australia and in Sudan, Africa?
Q. I've been looking at the different job opportunities abroad for an environment, health and safety practitioner, and I have noticed a "great demand" for such workers in Australia and in Sudan. I had this impression that the demand was high in those countries, since there were several agencies that have posted their requirements for 25, 50 and even 100 environmental professionals in various websites. I wonder why is there a demand for numerous envi. workers? What are the current environmental issues that these countries are facing?

A. Sudan is a big producer of oil, so that's probably why there are a lot of jobs in need over there. The US doesn't import from them because of the war going on over there, but that hasn't stopped China from buying their oil. I would think twice before heading off to work in a wore torn 3rd world country if I were you! Australia is really big into mining, so I'm assuming that most of the jobs you're seeing are for mining companies and such. In fact, Australia just elected a new president (or is it Prime Minister down there?) who I've heard is going to sign the Koyoto treaty, so maybe a lot of businesses there are preparing for that.

Q. a. What happens to demand when the price of a product changes b.Compare that to what happens when a parameter or determinant of demand changes.

A. Your question is almost backwards or a trick question. Price is determined by demand. eg. When Texas Instruments first brought out the 5 function hand calculator. add, subtract, multiply, divide and square root. The calculator cost $160. back in the 1970's. Price was high because demand was high, supply was small. You can now buy a calculator that does more functions in the dollar store. a. demand sets price. b. parameters, such as patent runs out, others can manufacture and supply same or similar product, increases supply, thus lowering cost.

What are some of the most in-demand subjects for stock photography?
Q. I want to do some stock photography and I'd like to maximize the results of my efforts. What subjects and topics are the best ones to take pictures of -- the ones that are the most requested and the most downloaded? Maybe the ones with the highest demand and the lowest supply?

A. Use the link to access a list of what is needed and not needed... this is only for the one site, but I'm sure that a lot of stock sites are about the same. I personally use this site, and its really nice actually.

How would Universal Healthcare affect the pay and demand for nurses in California?
Q. Would it increase the demand for nurses? Would the wage of registered nurses make more, less or still the same?

A. The pay would drop substantially, and health care delivery would be slower, so the demand should not increase. But, a federal judge is forcing California to build some 9 or so huge hospitals for prison populations, so the demand would increase there, but in dismal locations.
