From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Design is the planning that lays the basis for the making of every object or system. It can be used both as a noun and as a verb and, in a broader way, it means applied arts and engineering (See design disciplines below). As a verb, "to design" refers to the process of originating and developing a plan for a product, structure, system, or component with intention. As a noun, "a design" is used for either the final (solution) plan (e.g. proposal, drawing, model, description) or the result of implementing that plan in the form of the final product of a design process. This classification aside, in its broadest sense no other limitations exist and the final product can be anything from clothing to graphical user interfaces to skyscrapers. Even virtual concepts such as corporate identity and cultural traditions such as celebration of certain holidays are sometimes designed. More recently, processes (in general) have also been treated as products of design, giving new meaning to the term process design. The person designing is called a designer, which is also a term used for people who work professionally in one of the various design areas, usually also specifying which area is being dealt with (such as a fashion designer, concept designer or web designer). Designing often requires a designer to consider the aesthetic, functional, and many other aspects of an object or a process, which usually requires considerable research, thought, modeling, interactive adjustment, and re-design. With such a broad definition, there is no universal language or unifying institution for designers of all disciplines. This allows for many differing philosophies and approaches toward the subject. However, serious study of design demands increased focus on the design process. From Wikipedia under the

What is the relationship between research design and the operational definition of a problem statement? Asked by Jesus Z - Thu May 29 00:49:18 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Stats and Research methods go hand in hand. The design of an experiment will determine the statistical procedure used (or sometimes vice versa). For example, a yes/no questionnaire elicits categorical data, and techniques such as chi-square or Wilcoxon should be used. As well, ANOVA techniques (whether factorial, ANCOVA, one way, etc) also depend on the design of the experiment. There are many factors: number of independent and dependent variables, whether you used repeated measures, whether the subjects are related, presence of a control group... the list goes on. Q. i am thinking of becoming an Interior Design major. but i have to create a design to submit to the program to be accepted into it. so i was wondering if anyone is an Interior Designer or Decorator that might want to help me get started? Asked by kissmyface - Sun Apr 27 21:29:41 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. For any room, a good way I tell people to get started is to go shopping and find one piece that you absolutely love. It might be a bedding set, a vase, a gorgeous chair, a pillow...etc. Whatever it is, if you love it, use it as the inspiration for the rest of your room in terms of color scheme, textures, etc. For example, if you chose black, white and turquoise as a color scheme (like my home office is), you could use that in so many ways. Here's what I did with it: - Black and white damask curtains with a sheer turqouise curtain behind them - Black-finish desk and wall unit - 2 white Barcelona chairs with black and white damask pillows in them. - Turqouise tufted rug (it has a pattern, but it's all one color) - Turquoise vases and bowls… [cont.] Answered by Jennae P - Sun Apr 27 21:51:33 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "design" |
